When President Obama first ran for the White House in 2008, it was with the promise to turn the page on the presidency of George W. Bush. But for all their political differences, it turns out the American public pretty much view the two men in the same light, according to new polling data.
In the first week of November in the fifth year of their presidencies, Obama and Bush have nearly identical approval numbers, according to the latest Gallup polling.
The Gallup daily tracking poll for November 5th 2013 puts Obamas approval at 39 percent, with 53 percent disapproving of his job performance.
By comparison, polling for the first week of November in 2005 had Bushs approval at 40 percent, with 55 percent disapproving of his job performance.
And the negative comparison to Bushs numbers is potentially worse for Obama than just a tough headline.

I don’t know why it matters.
Obama is in, and unimpeachable for the next 3 years.
The media is all in, and willing to fall on their swords for him.
Who cares who likes Obama or doesn’t like Obama, he’s free to do his fundamental transformation for the next 3 years.
The Dems will keep the Senate in 2014, and it’s 50/50 as to whether they take the House.
translation: Stupid Americans always get bored with their POTUS by the end of year five. Not his fault at all!
Baraq is safely ensconced til Jan 2017.
It’s OK for the MSM to allow a few snarks.
Makes them look all “objective”.
And grease the skids for Hillary who will fix any imperfections in the progressive utopia.
and that’s with a media that was totally against Bush, but totally FOR Obama.
Gotta argue with the House and Senate. We’ll pick up seats in the Senate for sure, and likely get close to a majority at least although could fall short of 50. In the House it is 90/10 we’ll keep it. Our side just got lead most states in redistricting and the playing field is in our favor for the decade.
Yep, the big difference is Bush’s numbers were the result of five years of incessant hammering by the MSM, while Obama is left with <40 numbers after 5 years of supportive lies and worshipful coverage.
A rowboat and speed boat can travel the same speed when moving with and against a swift common current respectively. That current is the media.
Early analysis of results in VA show that aside from the Julias, key members of the Obama Cavalry (Millennials, Hispanics, Union Members) did not ride to the sound of the guns.
Consider also, that Obama still has very strong approval among the liberal fringe, and among black voters.
If you take out his strong approval among those worshipful groups, Obama’s approval numbers may well fall below 30% among the rest of the population, if he’s at 39% approval overall.
And after all of the controversy and failures of Obama, we’re supposed to welcome Hillary Clinton to finish the job?? Really??? Will this be reflected in the 2016 election????
There is no "honest" whatsoever, in the American Main Stream Media.
Oh, they will take the whole ball of wax in 2014. Don’t kid yourself.
Two years to run amok.
Sound familiar?
to paraphrase, "Nobody ever lost money betting on the stupidity of the American voter."
Shows no one believes the “racist” bs, not even the bs’ers themselves.
pathetic voters ...stupid voters....I hate them.....and I hate "conservative" voters even more for voting third party or not voting...
its all BS....
The Republicans have a stunning knack to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. It’s killing out country.
So do conservatives who refuse to vote because the GOP presidential candidate isn’t “pure” enough for them, or actually voted for King Obbbama in order to teach the GOP a “lesson.”
Your full comment is so correct!
Not only did .. “conservative” voters even more for voting third party or not voting”... happen, but it left large holes for voter fraud.
We, Republicans, brought this on ourselves. We may have been set-up, but we fell for it! Hook, line and we sunk!
