Governor Palin knew a death panel when she saw one

So notes Charles Hurt in a piece today at the Washington Times.

Mama Grizzly warned us this would happen.

Under Obamacare, the sick and weak and old would stand before death panels of bureaucrats to be granted life or death.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was laughed out of town for making four years ago what we now know is a prescient prediction. Perhaps she is one of the few who actually read the health care bill before it passed.

“And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course,” she wrote on her Facebook page in 2009.

“The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama’s ‘death panel’ so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their ‘level of productivity in society,’ whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil.”

President Obama and his blind supporters who were busy not reading the bill howled in protest, calling Mrs. Palin an irresponsible liar unworthy of the public political stage.

The media’s alleged keeper of the truth PolitiFact declared her assertion the “Lie of the Year.” FactCheck.org, another alleged “truth” panel, summarily dismissed the claim as a “whopper.”

Now comes cancer survivor Edie Littlefield Sundby.

The ravages of Obamacare have not even set in yet and already she has been given what quite possibly will amount to a death sentence.

Read the rest of Hurt’s article here. Governor Palin’s "death panel" metaphor for the health care rationing ObamaCare requires has been vindicated by many in the intervening four years since Governor Palin first brought it to our attention. This vindication has even come from the far left as noted liberals Paul Krugman and former Obama OMB Director Peter Orszag confirmed her analysis. This incident is just another variation of ObamaCare’s inevitable rationing, and the Democrat’s health care debacle is the proximate cause of the tragic predicament in which Ms. Sundby finds herself.  Nobody who’s been paying attention the past several years should be surprised.

When anything is rationed by the government, the decisions on what to ration and to whom become more political than economic. Reliable democrat voters will receive more rations.

“When anything is rationed by the government, the decisions on what to ration and to whom become more political than economic.”

Which is exactly the point, giving the power of LIFE-AND-DEATH to bureaucrats, who choose who lives and who dies based on your political patronage.

“When anything is rationed by the government, the decisions on what to ration and to whom become more political than economic.”

That’s probably true, but rationing itself is not the problem. Of course we will have to put some limitations on the amount of medical care that a person is entitled to as a government benefit. We already ration almost everything else. My brother gets more social security than I get. And we each get less than $2,000 a month. We don’t get to live like multimillionaires as a benefit from the government. We get enough to get by, barely. If you want to do better, then work hard and save your money. Likewise with Medicare or Medicaid, the government should provide basic care, but not multimillionaire care. You want that, you work hard and save your money.

“You want that, you work hard and save your money.”

That was once true. Now, you work hard, they tax your money. Not so much left to save. If you do save, they are going to “means test” your “benefits.” It’s not here yet, but even Republicans like Paul Ryan are proposing this.

Tax rates are lower now than they were thirty years ago. When I first started my business in 1980, the top tax rate was 70%. Within a few years, it dropped to 28%. Now I think it is 39%. All through the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, the top rate was from 70% to 91%.

But you’re right. If you’re not in the top earning brackets in America, real wages have stagnated. All the gains have come at the high income levels.

The GOP needs to wake up, and realize America is shrinking.

STOP SENDING US JOBS ABROAD.

We have been shrinking our own economy, for an entire generation.

China is now a larger exporter than America. And it is growing very quickly.

Bring back US jobs. To America.

Now.
