Straight arrows like Cuccinelli probably think of it as the moral equivalent of selling their souls in bits and pieces.

Did Reagan personally fund raise or did he have surrogates do it for him? Was there an effect on him personally if he did?

Good. Republican legislature can keep his nuts in a vise for four years. Let the goof stumble around and misspeak and generally behave like the Democratic criminal he is for all to see.

After he adds 400,000K to the Medicaid roles in Virginia (i.e., 400K illegals) . ...well, I suppose I could dream that it might wake some people up. Doubtful though.

I don't think donors want to see surrogates. Nobody wants to meet the character who washed out during training in "Top Gun" - everyone wants to meet Maverick or Goose. What I remember is that Reagan was a prodigious fundraiser, and he was frequently criticized for it. The nature of the matching funds system that both parties used until Obama broke away in 2008 (and both parties rejected in 2012) meant that most of Reagan's fundraising was on behalf of other candidates and GOP party organizations.
