It appears from the VA legislature's results that Cuccinelli's loss was his alone (probably related to fundraising issues) rather than any broad-based rejection of the GOP because of the shutdown.

The GOP candidate, AGAIN, COULD have won,
if only there did not exist the criminal villains
and thieves: Rove and Romney.

I don’t believe so..the GOP wanted him to fail. He was not their candidate, he was the Tea Party ‘s.

That’ll be the only thing that holds McCauliffe back...rural Republican legislators who weren’t in on the fix.

The fundraising issues you mention were strictly caused by the backstabbing GOP-e.

Odd; the state election website shows Lingamfelter winning by a few hundred votes.

He pulled an Akin even before Akin did it. In his 2002 campaign for Virginia state Senate, Cuccinelli said that he did not support legal abortion for victims of rape or incest.

Republican candidates have to realize they are on a field of combat battling the equivalent of al Qaeda, ie an adversary that will use any tactic, deceitful method, and plain outright lies to win their campaign. You cannot play nicely with them. That is why I was dumbfounded to see Mitt Romney nominated by the party. Romney's Mormon background inculcated in him the art of public speaking but doing so as a gentleman, never stooping to subterfuge or denigrating his adversary by exposing his lack of skill or lack of candor. Remember the surprised expression on Romney's face during the debate when he gouged Obama? Remember how he backed down after that event? Republicans need to wake up and realize the future for the short term anyway is going to involve nastiness and start selecting political candidates with the ability to slug it out with the ilk of the Democrats.

“It appears from the VA legislature’s results that Cuccinelli’s loss was his alone “

BS. He was ahead with 88% of the precincts counted. The fix was in. The Democrats waited to see how many votes they needed and slammed the door shut.

The RNC spent less than a third on Cooch than they spent in 2009 on the same race in the same state.

The RNC probably deemed him too conservative. Remember the GOPe leaders have declared war on anyone they see as TEA Party.
