Republican Presidents have been historically progressive with their ideology. Only Harding/Coolidge and Reagan fought/espouse limiting the Federal government (Reagan had too much trust in Dem controlled HOR however). The rest sought to grow the Federal gov. into their own ideology/desires/wants.

Well Said Rollo, it is a rare trait for someone to have the will to do things that will reduce their own power and authority. Certainly George Washington had it, but the sad thing is that anyone who does posses this trait *cough*SarahPalinamoungmany*cough* is attacked mercilessly in front of the Ignorant Population.
It would seem bread and circus win every-time, but only until the Barbarians show up at Rome's Gate....
