A major Democratic Party benefactor and Obama campaign bundler helped pay for professional petition circulators responsible for getting Virginia Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert C. Sarvis on the ballot a move that could split conservative votes in a tight race.
Campaign finance records show the Libertarian Booster PAC has made the largest independent contribution to Sarvis campaign, helping to pay for professional petition circulators who collected signatures necessary to get Sarvis name on Tuesdays statewide ballot.
Austin, Texas, software billionaire Joe Liemandt is the Libertarian Booster PACs major benefactor. Hes also a top bundler for President Barack Obama.
So why is an Obama supporter pumping up a third party candidate in a close race? Three possible reasons: 1.Because he knows that Libertarian candidates tend to suck more votes away from Republican candidates. 2.Because he knows that you cant really get libertarians to form a long-term alliance with liberals; the two groups disagree far too much on tactics. 3.Because Joe Liemandt wants the Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe to win. Note that pick any two or all of the above also work, as answers.
Anyway: iIf you havent voted in Virginia today: vote for Ken Cuccinelli, and the rest of the GOP ticket. Because if you think that Robert Sarvis is an acceptable alternative, heres a clue: so does the Democratic party. And they will laugh in your face if they get power and then the Democrats will do things that you hate. Simply to spite you.
As Obamacare is demonstrating now, they like to do that. Why do you think that rural Obamacare exchange networks are worse under their system than urban ones are?
You are correct Sir......Dems are just as disappointed with Obama as republicans. The Republicans have not considered Ken’s turn against the tea party as the problem with gubernatorial race in Virginia... just the lousy third party candidates taking votes away. A third party wouldn’t be an issue if Republicans were true conservative rather than a branch of the one party socialist system we have now. Remember, right-wing think tanks with the help of the insurance industry wrote Obama care. So, the establishment Republicans feign outrage in public while quietly supporting it behind the scenes.
That’s the problem. The Democrats are organized as a “community”. Republicans are divided, disgusted with “what is” and completely disorganized. With no “cure” in sight.

Libertarians provided the margin for Democrats in at least nine elections
As weve perused last weeks election returns, wed noticed a number of races where Libertarian candidates appear to have played spoiler for Republicanscertainly, more than were accustomed to. While we havent run a comparison with prior cycles, weve identified no fewer than nine contests in 2012 where the Libertarian received more votes than the difference between the Democratic and Republican candidates. Whats more, none of these involved the typical 1 or maybe 2 percent you ordinarily expect a Lib to garner: Looking at the three-way vote, all but one were over 3 percent, and three took 6 percent or more, with a high of 6.5 percent in the Montana Senate race. These definitely seem like unusually high figures.
Third Party drain-off;
Pure Clinton 1992 and 1996 tactic—extremely successful as perfected by McAuliffe himself and the other Clinton c*cks*ckers with whom we’re still unfortunately afflicted.
Ross Perot was not on Clinton’s payroll as Sarvis is.
Probably getting a little something for himself as well.
