Forty-four employees of Taos Health Systems and its subsidiary, Holy Cross Hospital, will be laid off in a move administrators claim is necessary amid changing trends in the health care sector, though staff warn the cuts could imperil patients.

There was just another thread about another New Mexico hospital laying off staff.
And I hope this isn’t going to become a trend. But, if Obamacare is increasing costs to healthcare providers, unfortunately, this is a logical outcome.
All according to plan...
Congressional and Senate candidates (dems and pubs) should be asked to pledge to repeal Obamacare.
Hospitals in small communities everywhere, especially in rural areas with a higher Medicare population, have been fighting and will continue to fight these battles, usually to the conclusions noted in the article. Obamacare will exacerbate the trend and all will feel it in some way.

If you like your hospital, you can keep it. Of course, it won’t have the same staff, and perhaps no staff at all. Don’t worry, there will be regional concentration camps with all the medical personnel you expect.
This is a manifestation of another wave of ObamaCare-induced catastrophies that will begin to roll across America in the months to come. Folks I speak to in the hospital industry worry that many hundreds of small community hospitals will be closing their doors, driven out of business by ObamaCare. Cuts to Medicare reimbursements required by the ACA are primarily to blame. The big metropolitan hospitals will for the most part survive, but the small 15-30 bed hospitals that dot the small towns across the country (often contemptuous styled “band-aid stations” by the biggies) will collapse in droves. Folks in Questa, Red River or Taos, who used to receive hospital care in Taos, will find themselves being transported to Santa Fe or even Albuquerque for treatment, and friend and family will confront 150-250 round trips to visit.
The same scenario will play out in other New Mexico communities like Grants, Socorro, Tucumcari and so forth around the state and the rest of the nation.

Not only will your local hospital be closed, your new improved Obamacare insurance only covers care in your county of residence. So if you live in rural America, you won’t be covered at that fancy new hospital they have to transport you to anyway, because it’s out of your county of residence. Tough luck.
