I guess you like socialism. The tax halted further oil and gas exploration. Congratulations.

Oh, bullshit. People went to prison -- Republicans rightly went to prison -- because of corruption with oil companies, partly becuase of Palin's leadership. Damned right the oil companies don't like Palin, and of course they want to convince everybody they can how "bad" she is. Tough luck.

There was no "tax." It was essentially a land use fee based on the going price of oil, and the land belongs to Alaskans. That's a state's thing, Alaska alone is about one quarter the size of the continental US. I guess you think oil companies shouldn't have to pay to use that land? Or that if it does, it should go to the politicians?

All I have to say is that the nature of Palin's enemies, people who must deliberately misrepresent facts again and again, over the years, even, right here on FR, in order to convince people (and themselves) that Palin isn't good enough ... says more about Palin's enemies and their motivations, than it does about Palin -- at least those of us who've actually independently investigated the things in pursuit of the "light of truth," and see the sneaky deceit in the charges, like windflier, who did such a good job a few posts ago once again explaining to thinking folks why the "quitter" meme is just ... blantantly false.

No matter how much I like her, I wouldn't deliberately deceive like that to push Palin or to fight her enemies. Pure truth is the best weapon against Romney and Rove and all of them. But when it's Palin ... how come so many should-be respected fellow conservatives indulge in that kind of deceit here?

A mystery for the ages, I guess.

If they committed crimes that's where they should go. Just because she happened to be governor at the time does not mean she would be a good president.

Pure spin. It's a tax, every bit as much as the gas taxes you pay. Worse, it was retroactive. I'll bet you liked that too.

I do think that oil companies should pay landowners for mineral rights, but I do not believe in government ownership of land. I guess you believe in State ownership of land, which is the essence of socialism sonny.

Sheesh. Just because you liked the deal does not make Palin a principled conservative, in this instance, quite the contrary.
