Peggy Noonan on ABC: Tea Party Aims to ‘Topple’ GOP, Not Take it Over

On Sunday’s This Week With George Stephanopoulos, Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan argued that the tea party was a new fixture in American politics, a movement that doesn’t want to usurp a major political party but eliminate it.

The comment came during a discussion of electoral forces going into the 2014 midterms, with former Bush consultant Matthew Dowd arguing that demographics were shifting in the Democratic Party’s favor.

“Candidates matter,” ABC News’ Jonathan Karl responded. “They’ve nominated far-right candidates.”

“Lesson for the tea party?” Stephanopoulos asked.

“A lot of people may be cruisin’ for a brusin’,” Noonan replied. “Big difference for the tea party now and say ’64 and Goldwater and ’76 and Reagan—’64 and ’76, Goldwater and Reagan both wanted to seize and control and win over the Republican Party. The tea party now shows signs of not wanting to win it, but of wanting to topple it over, wanting to do away with it. That is something new in our politics. It’s going to get fought out over the next few years.”

We are forces of chaos and anarchy
Everything that they say we are, we are
And we are very proud of ourselves...

I am at a loss, I see the Tea Party as a mixture of Repubs, Dems and Independents

Yes.

What the "take over the GOP" people don't get is that the brand is death in wide swaths of the country that we MUST recapture.

Some of the large white non-voting bloc in 2012 was made up of people who would DIE rather than vote for a Republican. WE see Mittens as a squish and a RINO, but THEY see him as the guy who took away their futures by closing their plants and sending their jobs to China.

The New Party MUST MUST MUST include tens of millions of patriots for whom "Republican" is a curse word.

Peggy wrote a great speech for Reagan after the Challenger disaster. That’s been the high point of her career, and she’s been milking it ever since.

Peggy is the real-life version of Balph Eubank.

ObamaCare is Directive 10-289 made real.

Would it not be better to topple the Democratic Party?

“Candidates matter,” ABC News’ Jonathan Karl responded. “They’ve nominated far-right candidates.”

So here's how the system is rigged; if you're not part of the beltway clique, the press will eviscerate you. They will lay traps for you.

The GOP-e has learned to live w/ the press by playing lapdog milquetoast moderates. The press will tar everyone to the right of McConnell and Boehner "radicals & extremists".

Together the dhimmis and the GOP-e have bankrupted the country and corrupted our government. But they hold all the cards.

Amazing, isn’t it. As far as I am concerned, at this moment, Ted Cruz is the LEAD candidate. Assclown Repugtards need to turn in their Dem Lite cards and go home.

The media decides who is “far right” or “extremist.” The Deocrats have moved far to the left of where they used to be, but they are not called extreme left-wingers. The Republicans nominate people who are to the left of JFK and they are labeled “far-right” by the media.
