It was quite the weekend of, shall we say, managing expectations in Washington. Erika already pointed out that the original roll out for the whole, if you like your plan may have been questioned internally by subject matter experts and advisors, but hey that didnt matter. See, we never really meant all the plans. Just the good ones.
Another theme you previously heard from administration officials over and over again dealt with how many people absolutely, positively, without a doubt would need to be enrolled in the program in order for it to be able to stand on its own feet financially. That number, lest you somehow missed it, was seven million. We need everyone on board with this and registered in order for everyone to share the burden. But, as Andrew Johnson points out at The Corner, White House spokesman Dan Pfeiffer showed up on the Sunday show circuit to say that the original number may have been more of an estimate.
Dan Pfeiffer, one of President Obamas top advisers, played down the initial estimation that 7 million people would need to enroll in Obamacare exchanges in order for the program to succeed. He said the White House wasnt going off of that figure offered by the Congressional Budget Office, but rather just try to as many people done as possible.
Liar, liar...pants on fire.
They simply misspoke.
Yup. Thats their latest tactic.
“I meant to say 700. 700 will be plenty.” - TOTUS
The money stolen from Medicare will reimburse the insurance companies ..... unless Obama is lying to them.
Insurance Fat Cats, nervous yet?
they don’t need one person to sign up for obamacare. it was created “too big to fail,” as are all leftist entitlements.
none of them actually work. they’re not supposed to work. and they don’t need to work as long as the gov’t uses our’s and our children’s credit to prop them up.
It’s obvious that we shouldn’t have believed a single thing they have said about ACA since the debate began. I don’t know why anyone would still be listening today.
the obamites obviously think we’re all really, really stupid.
Enough of them are, they voted for him, twice.
He used the term “vast majority of Americans”, in other contexts vast majority includes over 65, covered by employer and other ineligible persons. Persons who w0on’t be attempting to enroll.
So, big mouth, if the number enrolled does not matter that much why don’t they eliminate the individual mandate?
In relation, the number of LEGAL uninsureds that started this whole mess is about thirteen million.
Democrats misspeak whereas Republicans lie.
Be very careful falling into this “7 million sign up” trap! They WILL claim success when they achieve close to this number - an long forgotten will be the critical detail of WHO these 7 million are! Remember, over 7 million who currently purchase insurance on their own are being cancelled. At least 1/2 of those will get a subsidy, so why wouldn’t they buy a policy on the exchange? They were already buying and being responsible.
Add to that a huge wave of medicaid, which they are now counting as “signups” and you’ll get near 7 million - and a claim of “victory” for the admin, widely complained by their publicity team in the press.
Will their be a net increase in those buying insurance? No. Will that matter? Nope.
Even at the optimistic 7 million that means the website cost $10 million a person...
