Buchanan and Travis are strictly for flood control. I’ve read that Buchanan dam could break and Lake Travis could hold most of the water before going over the top of Mansfield dam. That is if Travis is at 650’ MSL.

The LCRA was letting water out of Travis last month to get fresh water to the oyster beds. Now all the rain water from the recent rains will end up in the gulf too. All the major runoff was below Mansfield dam.

Those lakes are much larger than Lake Waco is!
We took a rare depression era pre war camping/ fishing vacation trip to Lake Buchanan after sightseeing in San Antonio. Mission visits for my mother and fishing for my dad..I was about 6 and caught my first fish.
