He baited Americans with cries of 'domestic spying' then dropped the hammer on our activities abroad to undermine ALL of our allied relationships.Isn't it a much simpler theory to believe that he is simply against spying on any average citizen or ally, i.e. anyone who is not known to be a threat to us? I don't agree with him on spying on foreign government officials, I think we should do that. But this is a dog-and-pony show between the allies anyway. Every ally knows they're being spied on by us, and they're doing the same thing to us. Their faux shock at it is just for domestic consumption and part of the game.
