Washington (CNN) -- As members of Congress point to problems with HealthCare.gov, lawmakers are scrambling and, in and some cases, sparking cries of hypocrisy over how they'll handle one piece of Obamacare under their control: whether their own staff members should be forced into the exchanges.
Members of Congress have until the end of the day on Thursday to make up their minds, and Democrats and Republicans are divided internally on the politically tricky issue.
"We just learned (Monday) that we have to make the decision this week," one House Republican leadership aide told CNN.
Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Robert Menendez, D-New Jersey, told CNN on Tuesday, "I'm not sure where we're at."
His staff was still unsure of his decision on Wednesday night.
Meantime, despite Democrats' defense of Obamacare and Republican insistence that members of Congress and their staff should directly experience the law they passed, some powerful lawmakers plan to exempt their workers from the requirement that they enter the exchanges.
Example? House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa wants to keep his entire staff -- committee and personal office -- out of the exchanges, according to a House Republican aide familiar with his thinking.

Why would they want to expose their people to them?
It's the Dems who should be forced to participate.

So congress is off the hook but only their staff is in question?
Yep, not keeping staff protected from ACA would “cause a brain drain” hiking up staff costs is a bridge too far. They are waaaay too important.
I suppose ‘brain drain’ doesn’t happen in the mythical private sector...where citizens are captive of a tyrant government.
Isn’t it fabled that staff created this monster? Screw the bass turds—they should be ALL in 100%!!!

If I was a staffer getting kicked into Obamacare I would have feelers out for something off Capital Hill or moving over to K street.
Considering what these Congressional “brains” have accomplished in recent years I would say drain away!
I also don’t buy the argument that Republicans have no complicity in this, other than the few leaders such as Ted Cruz who actually were willing to take effective steps against the ACA, as opposed to endless posturing and show-votes.
My easy prediction is very few Congressional staff will be forced into Obama-care. The level of hypocrisy and entitlement is higher than Mount Everest
One of the last acts the House GOP had proposed a CR that cut off congresses Obamacare subsidy but too many of in GOP joined ALL the Dems to tell Boehner they would vote against it.
So instead Bohner put up the Senate bill as is instead which Obama signed.
So Lou Gomert and others get that special subsidy as with the rest. You know who these were who opposed it?

It sounds as though CNN is worried that “congressional aides” may have to have some skin in the game when it comes to ObamaCare. Those poor, poor people.
Typical of society at large today. Even many conservatives on FR have opined that some sort of unconstitutional event/policy was good because it seemed to have some "Noble Intent or Effect" that they agreed with. People are, by nature, and selfish - willing to let their neighbors be subjugated if they can get a sweeter deal. Politicians have taken it to a science and it is one of the reasons why Conservatives cannot stand united as Dims do - we want what's right and Constitutional unless it hurts us or if a politician has 10% of the spectrum "out-of-bounds for our principles". We get torn because we are to base and venal to actually want to make en-mass sacrifices for what's right if we see others not making same sacrifices. Dims stick together because none of their causes are noble and they all get to be as selfish and greedy as they want because they expect others to pay for it. It's easy to stick together with that being the over-arching "philosophy".
