Funds From Pistol With $100,000 Asking Price Planned To Be Used To Fight State Gun Laws
The Hartford Courant ^ | November 01, 2013 | CHRISTOPHER HOFFMAN,

NEWINGTON — Scott Hoffman is so determined to repeal the state's new gun laws that he is selling one of his most prized possessions, a one-of-a-kind Smith & Wesson pistol once touted as the most expensive handgun in the world.

Hoffman's asking price for the special edition Smith & Wesson 629 .44-caliber Magnum, the same type of revolver made famous by the "Dirty Harry" movies: $100,000.

"I feel so strongly that the law that was enacted is so wrong on so many levels that I wanted to demonstrate my commitment to see that it's either overturned or people are put in place who have views like myself," Hoffman said. "I'm giving up something I love to fight those laws."

Hoffman said that restrictions enacted by the legislature, including bans on assault-style weapons and high-capacity magazines, will not prevent another school shooting and infringe on the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

"It's just fundamentally wrong, but more than that, it's not going to save one life," Hoffman said. "It's not going to save one child. It looks good."

I moved from CT 15 years ago, but Hoffman's tag line was great.

Hoffman's:
Guns for the good guys,
'cause the bad guys already have them.

Beautiful gun. BUT it is too nice and too expensive to shoot and there really is something fundamentally wrong with a gun that is too pretty and too expensive to shoot.
So I will just keep my old Model 28 .357 Mag.

Besides, I could not afford the polish for it. However it is going for a good cause.

You may recall the tale of Jim Goldberg [a Hoffy employee].
http://www.gunreports.com/news/news/concealed-carry-connecticut-chili-goldberg_2006-1.html

This saga brought a lot of attention to how, even the police in CT do not know the laws.

Lucky you got *out* alive! ;D

Meanwhile the investigation of the crime seized upon to “justify” these laws has been sealed.

Delayed. It takes time to rewrite history.
http://www.newstimes.com/newtownshooting/article/Sandy-Hook-investigative-report-delayed-4558338.php

A state police spokesman said the June deadline was “never etched in stone.”

“There are many things that still have to come together,” said Lt. J. Paul Vance. “We are leaving no stone unturned.”

Vance added that the report will be ready, “when all the work is done, when we've covered every base and done everything we can.”

He added that when the report is completed, police officials will sit down with the officials from the state's attorney's office and relatives of those slain to review the material before it is released to the public.

I’d rather have the one of only two (one was destroyed) of a Walther P38 Lugar chambered in .45 acp. Now that would be a safe-queen.

Has anyone read Dick Metcalf’s article in the last page of the December issue of Guns and Ammo. To make it short and sweet he doesn’t know what he is talking about, thinks the part of the second amendment which talks about a well regulated militia means that guns should be regulated.

The man does not even understand English. I am going to cancel my subscription and I urge everyone else to do the same thing if he is not fired.

The most harmful thing to our second amendment rights are those know it all sportsmen who really don’t know crap.

The subject really needs it’s own thread.

The 2nd Amendment archaic term “regulated” means “drilled” and yes, the arms are not just to defend with, they are to practice with. This clause was put in so that the government couldn’t say okay you can bear but you can’t practice. Negative minded, naysaying people have morphed it into its current distorted interpretation. (That’s a problem with bible interpretation too, but I mention only in passing.)

I don’t know how to post articles or to find the “bang list” but someone needs to do so.

This was the crap which allowed the original Gun Control Act of 1968 to pass with disastrous results. At that time we had lost of gun people supposedly on our side, stick a knife in our backs. This included manufacturers, writers and even some NRA leaders.

Well in general it’s a symptom of negative thinking.
