I could survive nicely but it would not be good eating.

I eat well for less than $50/month. Being a culinary school graduate and having a garden help.

I buy meat when its on sale. Mainly ground beef. But I love a good roast and chuck roast is good enough for me, even when things are good, though I will buy a better piece at times.

Pork loins on sale are cheap and make great pork roast. Cut them 3/4 to 1" thick and you have pork chops. I get western style ribs for about $1.29#, a bottle of bbq sauce and in the oven for 2 hours and its "almost" like having bbq ribs. I love fried chicken and chicken is inexpensive. Like Shake 'n Bake? Go on the internet and learn to make SnB yourself.

I love rice (but not everyday) a 50# bag at GFS or Sams or Costco, about $20-$22. Make a big batch for dinner and make rice pudding for dessert. YUM!.

Sams and Costco sell pancake mix in 10# bags, about $7-$8. When in Wisconsin I stop by a farm that sells their own Maple Syrup. 1 gal=$38 (compare to $15 a quart at the store)(a little more than Log Cabin, Aunt Jemima etc, but oh so much better). Thick cut bacon at GFS for about $2#.

Better Than Boullion is AWESOME. Make some homemade soup and some homemade bread. MMMMMMMM.
