Veteran BBC broadcaster Paul Gambaccini has been arrested as part of a wider British inquiry set up to examine sexual abuse stemming from claims against late presenter Jimmy Savile.
The US-born radio and TV presenter, 64, confirmed his arrest in a statement but denied the allegations.
He was released on bail following his arrest on Tuesday, which the BBC had previously refused to confirm.
The BBC said the DJ would not be presenting his weekly radio show for "coming weeks".

Gambaccini (born April 2, 1949) is an American-British radio and television presenter and author in the United Kingdom. He has dual United States and British nationality, having become a British citizen in 2005.
Gambaccini studied at Dartmouth College, where he obtained a degree in history in 1970.[4] He then moved to the United Kingdom on a Rhodes Scholarship[7] and attended University College, Oxford,[4] where he obtained a degree in politics, philosophy, and economics.
On 29 October 2013, Gambaccini was arrested on suspicion of historical sexual offences as part of Operation Yewtree; he denied the allegations.

This guy, when he speaks, has the authority affectation down cold; like obozo. I know nothing about him besides the fact that he was a radio guy but I instinctively dislike him when I hear him.
This is more to do with a culture prevalent in the entertainment industry at certain period than specifically the BBC. Most of those working in the industry in Britain at that time are likely to have worked for the BBC at some point, as well as other broadcasters - but it’s the BBC connection that British tabloid press (generally hostile to the BBC) usually highlights in these cases. This man, for instance, has also worked extensively on Classic FM.
I am the opposite, this man is one of the, if not the great authority, on pop and rock music in the UK, and has been a joy to read and listen to for over three decades.
I hope (and frankly I doubt they are) that the allegations aren’t true.
