Kraft must be at least a little lonely, because he signed up a few years ago for a website that tries to match up prisoners with pen pals. “I’m not an old fogey,” his profile reads. “I like to read all sorts of things and listen to most kinds of music. I enjoy and am pretty good at crossword puzzles and Sudoku and I like to write. … I am friendly, low-key and sincere.” He laments that most of the mail he does get is from souvenir hunters, people with weird fantasies, and true-crime writers. “I’m beginning to wonder if there are any sincere people out there,” he says.

Possibly 61 tortured kills, and he lives as a small time celebrity in prison, for 30 years so far.

What is even more incredible, there are over 160 inmates on Death Row in California that have been there LONGER than Kraft’s 24 years, many of them having been sentenced in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. No end in sight to their appeals. The probability of an execution in California in the next ten years is close to zero.

Douglas Stankewitz was originally sentenced to death in 1978 (!) and is awaiting his THIRD retrial, which has been pushed back to at least the year 2015. His defense attorneys claim there are “hundreds of thousands of documents” to read. It’s beyond absurd. This is legal and judicial malfeasance on an enormous scale, but nothing will be done to correct it.

So many problems that could solved with a few milligrams of lead. We’ve fallen so far.

A bit of good news out of Nasville stations tonight.

Paul Reid died. This guy murdered 7 fast food workers

16 yrs ago.It was illness that killed him but at least

he’s gone.

The Nashville stations are scrubbing comments tho.

The leftist preacher to Reid laments that at least the

good people of Tn have been cheated out of an

execution.Comments about this loony preacher deleted.

He laments that most of the mail he does get is from ... people with weird fantasies ...

Unlike himself!

As you say, he is enjoying fame and a social status, while his crimes were beyond belief - incredibly sadistic. It is very sad to read of the families of his victims, who have to live with the terrible details which came out at the trial.

99% of the troubles of this country come from lawyers. I include the lawyers in the Congress, the Judiciary, and industry. Lawyers who sue for a living, lawyers who brag on fighting the IRS. IRS lawyers, Lawyers who defend the murderers, lawyers for terrorists, lawyers at ACLU, the list is unending. Including two unlicensed lawyers occupying the White House.

Similarly, a few years before he died some tv news show did an interview with infamous mass murderer Richard Speck in his prison cell. Speck bragged about the good life he had in prison with sex and drugs readily available. He expressed no remorse for the eight nurses he knifed to death. I wish that interview could be shown to every bleeding heart who feels sorry for convicted killers.

LOL, I no doubt will get tarred and feathered on FR for offerring even a very qualified defense of lawyers. But, here goes anyway. First, most lawyers would hate me because I have sued many of them (related to one case) and settled for a lot of money.

That said, it took some good and honest lawyers to sue the sorry lawyers that screwed me. And, it took those same lawyers to convince me that I SHOULD SUE given what was done to me. So, like all professions, there are good ones and there are bad ones.

Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, the ambulance chasers and John Edwards types do make it horrendously expensive to do business here in America. But, there is another side to that coin too. Namely, I know that that Doc who was cutting inside me six months ago was being real real careful. Indeed, much more careful than he likely would have been if it were not for the certain knowledge he had in his mind while doing the cutting that IF he screwed up (left the knife in me) some lawyer would be after him mercilessly. So, like EVERYTHING, I think just a smidgeon of balance towards the subject of lawyers is wise and easily justified.
