Somebody, please tell me, show me, demonstrate what redeeming value these people offer this country.

“....>imagine them getting a job?”...>

Why would they? We pay for everything they need and want.

Note: I will add that I am more than happy to help those who sincerely cannot fend for themselves......but what we are paying for are few of those people.

I’m trying to garner some sympathy here. $36 a month. Hubby lost his job in Sept. Our income dropped by two thirds. Now we’re living on my income. And because his accrued vacation was paid to him at termination, he isn’t eligible to draw unemployment until January. Fortunately, we’ve always lived well within our means, so although living on a third of what we were making isn’t the most pleasant thing, we are able to do it. And we aren’t on any government assistance either. We’re even debating whether he’ll take unemployment once he becomes eligible. So, forgive me if I’m less than sympathetic to the overly-hysterical whining about $36 a month. Those of us who pay for these idiots to have over $600 a month in “supplemental” assistance are taking it in the shorts out here, and nobody puts us on TV or cares about our unfortunate situation.

OctoMom dodging a visit to the welfare office and a date with Chapter 11 by blending her way to a quick check at Millions of Milkshakes in Hollywood with her brood.....

....records from her former employers: she took in at least $150,248.77 in 2012..... while she collected collected more than $60,000 in welfare benefits, including food stamps, in 2012

an eviction notice for not paying her $2,590 rent bill for the month of April.

A source close to her landlord stated that after receiving the eviction notice, Octomom packed up her things from the Palmdale, Calif. home and fled in the middle of the night, leaving the house in "filth and smelling like urine," adding that there were "beer bottles in the garage and trash littered all throughout the house.”

But I find it hard to critize when so much more of our tax dollars goes to things like bridges to nowhere, the muslin brotherhood, used to buy votes, unconstitutional wars/conflicts, planned parenthood, and many other illegitmate things.

So your logic is that because the government already wastes a lot of money on some stuff it's a justification to waste more of it on other stuff?

Buying votes and creating dependency on our money.
Outrageous.

This loss will not cause them to have less food; just different brands of food. People I know who don’t work and get Food Stamps buy name brand products at the Super Market. I go to work every day and I buy Wal-Mart Great Value brands. They can make up that $36 each month by buying the same products I buy.

I want to help these New Yorkers, so I searched the internet for some ideas.

There are many ways to solve such problems, but far too many resolutions require the ‘victim’ to get off of their lazy butt. With that in mind, it would be far more natural for these poor folks to get by with the least amount of effort.

Easy fixes are found all over the net... here is a simple starter:

6 prime rats, about 6 ozs each after skinning and cleaning
flour for dredging

4-5 tablespoons bacon fat

1 large onion, peeled and thinly sliced

1 1/4 cups stock

Cut the rats into serving pieces. Season the flour with salt and pepper. Dredge the rats in the flour and set aside.

Heat 2 tablespoons of the bacon fat in a large, heavy pan over medium heat. Add the onion and saute, stirring occasionally, until limp and golden. Remove the onion and set aside.

In the same pan, brown the rats on all sides, a few pieces at a time, adding more bacon fat as needed. Set the rats aside.

Deglaze the pan with the stock. Return the rats and onions to the pan, and add salt and pepper to taste, and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes.

Tiny green peas and little boiled red potatoes make a lovely accompaniment.

Bon Appétit.....
