Delta Flight 2255 from Atlanta to Los Angeles seemed to be an ordinary flight with the exception of Candy, who was the most loving flight attendant I’ve ever encountered. Besides using her Southern charm to quickly defuse every situation, she began her welcome announcement by thanking the handful of uniformed soldiers on-board for serving our country. Her poignant message was followed by applause, and it put into perspective that none of us would be able to do what we do without these brave men and women.

Ah, I looked quickly and didn’t see it. If they want, they can take it down. Though I have to say, it’s certainly a story that bears repeating.

Being an Honor Guard is a true honor. I’d like for everyone to also keep in their prayers the Casualty Notification Officer/NCO who’s job it is to make the first notification of the family.

Truly the hardest job in the military is to inform a Service-member’s loved on that the ultimate price has been paid.

Always please use the proper headline, so that duplicates can be avoided and others can search for an earlier thread.

“This is not to be missed. Never forget. “

During the VietNam “war,” I had to assist my aunt and uncle in “recovering” their dead son from the Navy morgue on Treasure Island. I had the help of Col. Mitchel Paige ( at the time the only living recipient of the Medal of Honor), who was a friend and business associate. I can tell you that my cousin’s death brought a pall over that family, and my aunt in particular, to her dying day ( last year). When you read something like this, it makes you mad, or at least it does me. This country has not fought a real war since WWII, and yet we continue to piss away young lives needlessly and huge chunks of our treasury. The politicians should all be ashamed.
