Howie thread for November starting off with his Nov 1 column, "Call 911! EBT benefits get cut"
Call 911! EBT benefits get cut
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/1/13
I would hate to be a 911 operator around 1 or 2 this afternoon when the welfare recipients start rolling out of bed.
Stand by for a deluge of calls reporting thefts from their EBT cards.
Their monthly dole just got cut this morning. How can President Obama have let this happen to his most loyal voters?
Who says theres never any good news in the papers? Let us go straight to the letter that was sent out by the by the Department of Terrorist Assistance, and which I guarantee you absolutely none of the layabouts bothered to read:
In November, most families will see their benefits decrease due to the end of the additional benefits provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (AARA), commonly known as the stimulus package.
Some stimulus giving more money to bums. But then, didnt Nancy Pelosi tell us that for every dollar a deadbeat pays for a pack of smokes or a 40-ouncer, a buck-forty comes back? She really seems to believe these Bum Bucks procreate or something.
This is only the food stamp program, of course. The Temporary Assistance to Needy Families remains the same. The gainfully unemployed just have less to sell in the parking lot of your nearby Market Basket.
A family of six will be cut from $952 to $900 in food stamps. Even if youre just starting your family, with only two illegitimate kids so far, you still take a hit, from $526 to $497. Of course you continue to grab the WIC, Section 8, TANF, fuel assistance, Mass Health the full Tsarnaev, as its known among loyal Democrats. If you have any questions, dial 800-645-8333 on your Obamaphone.
Theres only one way to cope with this mean-spirited Republican attack on the leisure classes get more EBT cards. You just go down to the welfare office and make a self-declaration, meaning nobody checks. Thats how come you read so often nowadays of illegals being pinched, and just before the traditional paragraph about the immigration detainer, you learn that the dreamer had two, or three, or even four EBT cards.
Poor Campeo Armando Diaz- Carola, sentenced to eight years in prison earlier this week after being caught with a pound and a half of heroin. Just selling the skag Americans couldnt be bothered selling. Obviously not much of a crook, because this illegal, I mean dreamer, was only carrying one EBT card.
Gov. Patrick, try to stay near a telephone this afternoon. Your most loyal constituents need your help, and believe me, theyre not looking for jobs.
Good catch, great column. Unfortunately, nobody cares.
Not true...all those ignorant "liberals" in PRM "care"...too bad they can't build a wall around that place!
Wow! This one is a masterpiece.
Connollys campaign is a dog
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/3/13
This mayors race is like the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s. You look at the two candidates and you ask yourself: Isnt there some way they could both lose?
But as pinky-ringed up as he is, at least Marty Walsh has played to win. Could John Pugsley Connolly have possibly run a more pathetic race? He must not have gotten the memo. Those who sit on a lead, whether in politics or sports or anything else, invariably lose it.
And Pugsleys lost it.
Apparently he didnt realize he was in a street brawl, even after the brass knuckles came out. Which proves that Connolly really did go to Harvard. Theyre just not making Kmart Kennedys like they used to.
Think about all the advantages that Connolly started with Sept. 25. An 18-point lead among those who hadnt voted in the preliminary. Endorsements from both papers. Most importantly, Mumbles in his corner.
The coup de grace is this woman from Roslindale fronting a $480,000 ad buy for Mahhhty here in the final days. Pugsley should have held a press conference in front of her house. Anybody who responds to a punch by curling up into the fetal position, which is what Connolly did, doesnt deserve to be elected dogcatcher, let alone mayor.
If the Koch brothers had used a straw to dump a half-million into Connollys campaign four days before the polls opened, do you think Marty would have rolled over?
Even after the preliminary, most city voters had no idea who Walsh was. Why didnt Connolly run TV spots about his conflicts of interest? How is it possible that a guy who made $3,500 in his second job last year ends up on the defensive to a union lifer who grabbed $175,000, plus an SUV and free gas?
And what about all that union money?
The blasters union blasted Connolly. The drillers drilled him. The laborers belabored him. The pile drivers piled on. And the Cement and Concrete Workers fitted him for a new pair of overshoes.
With all this dough from the international brotherhoods, Marty does for the minority candidates what they couldnt do for themselves in the summer he puts them on TV. Theyre auditioning for jobs as deputy mayor. Charlotte and Barros passed the test; Felix Im not so sure about.
Meanwhile, Marty is allowed to introduce himself as a survivor of cancer, a shooting, alcoholism, not to mention as a friend to those who have no friends hes a regular Boston Blackie for the 21st century, or maybe Mother Teresa. And watch what happens Tuesday. If youve ever wondered what election day is like in North Korea, you dont have long to wait now. The entire city is going to resemble a casting call for a remake of the old Sylvester Stallone movie about Hoffa F.I.S.T.
I know somebody who was handling trick-or-treat duties at his house Thursday night. He got three Walsh phone calls in an hour and a half. The last thug who called said: Dis here is an anonymous poll. Are you wit Mahhhty or Connolly?
If you have business at City Hall and you dont already own a pinky ring, better buy one quick. The price is going up Wednesday.
Meet Howie and buy his new book, Ratman, at the American Legion Hall in Newton tonight, 6-8.

Globe should open its eyes
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/5/13
The Boston Globe meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Just days after buying the wreckage on Morrissey Boulevard at a fire-sale price, the new owner John Henry prints a shockingly ignorant, tone-deaf piece mourning the treatment of the greedy Muslim welfare terrorists who destroyed the Boston Marathon.
And Henry, who also owns the Red Sox, allowed the terrorist apologia to run on the very day after his team commemorates both its World Series triumph and the victims of last springs Islamist massacre.
Someone named Gish Jen, or is it Jen Gish, wrote the following about the political refugees who repaid the generosity of the American people by slaughtering them: Did we fail the Tsarnaevs somehow? Its not clear that we did.
No, but it is clear they failed us. Nobody asked them to come here and immediately go on welfare, for a decade or more. They claimed they were being oppressed in the Third World hellhole whence they came. The Tsarnaevs were so oppressed they often returned to vacation there for months at a time.
Money never a problem for the Tsarnaevs, even though none of them ever really had a job, unless you include the kid brothers drug dealing.
Yet for people who knew Dzhokhar especially, who had seen him at school, who had studied and partied and played sports with him, the lurking fear has been that we failed to truly open our hearts, that we accepted him, but only up to a point.
We certainly opened our wallets. Here is what we know about their welfare bonanza EBT cards with food stamps and cash, Section 8 housing, Mass Health, WIC, college scholarships, likely SSI (though the Obama administration has dummied up as a professional courtesy).
And how did they repay us? Sister is arrested for shoplifting in Dorchester. Mom is arrested for shoplifting in Natick. Sister-in-law is arrested for shoplifting in Rhode Island. Apparently they learned to pick our merchandise a lot faster than they picked up our language.
Then theres the dead brother, Tamerlan. He murdered four people in his 10 years in the Great Satan. The Globe described him as a stay-at-home dad.
But we didnt truly open our hearts to them. I dont recall any Globe columns admonishing Americans to truly open our hearts to, say, Timothy McVeigh. And was McVeigh ever described as a tow-headed terrorist? Did Adam Lanza ever make the cover of the Rolling Stone?
What is this teenybopper crush these moonbats seem to develop on terrorists but only foreign-born Muslim terrorists who want to impose the Sharia law that would lead to the immediate execution of most of their liberal cheerleaders?
Google Dzhokhar and tousle-haired and youll get 3,540 hits.
When will these Trustafarians open their hearts to some of their fellow Americans, like, say, Tea Party members? Thatll never happen. After all, when was the last time you saw a tousle-haired, pot-peddling Tea Party member?

John Connolly campaign like a lamb being led to mayoral slaughter
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/6/13
Poor John Connolly, his campaign managed by Nathaniel Stinnett, a Yale Whiffenpoof. As the hapless city councilor conceded last night, I was thinking of, yes, the Whiffenpoof Song, and how well it summed up the doomed Connolly campaign.
We are poor little lambs/Who have lost our way./Baa! Baa! Baa!/We are little black sheep/Who have gone astray./ Baa! Baa! Baa!
Poor little lambs indeed. They never knew what hit them. When the rubber hit the road, the poofs whiffed. It started on preliminary election night, Sept. 24. Instead of revving up his supporters with a rah-rah-siss-boom-bah speech, Connolly told them about his near-death experience.
The next morning, Marty Walsh was campaigning at T stations on live TV, whooping it up with his band of merry thugs and goons. Connolly was where? Who knows?
John Connolly ran the most pathetic campaign in Massachusetts since Marsha Coakley lost the Senate seat to Scott Brown in 2010. Ironically, Walsh started his political career beating Marsha for state rep back in 1996, and now he caps it by beating an equally clueless candidate. Luck of the Irish, anyone?
Back in the 2007 campaign for City Council, Connolly pulled a dirty trick on City Councilor Steve Murphy, sending out two scurrilous anonymous drops on him. He got busted. In some venues they call this mail fraud, but his mom was the chief justice of the district court, so Boy Connolly got a good leaving-alone.
But ever afterwards, he seemed skittish about anything that might even be construed as a dirty trick. After the preliminary in September, he even appeared skittish about cutting deals. Quid pro quo is not against the law. Charlotte Golar Richie is not Dianne Wilkerson. John Barros is not Chuck Turner. Nobody would have been wearing a wire if John had offered them a nice office at City Hall with a view of Faneuil Hall.
Instead, Connolly said he had the moms versus the machine. It sounded wimpy, almost Whiffenpoofish. To paraphrase an old Chicago politician, Boston aint ready for reform.
What about Mumbles, John? If he was really for you, why didnt he endorse you? Maybe he didnt dislike Mahhhty Walsh as much as he let on. Or perhaps he just disliked you just as much as he did Mahhhty.
Heres the irony. Mahhhty obviously wants to be the kind of mayor Mumbles has been a micromanaging megalomaniac. Well, he obviously doesnt want to be a megalomaniac, but eventually it goes along with being a micromanager.
Meanwhile, back at Connolly headquarters, the Ivy League bustouts were crooning the final dirge-like verse of their Whiffenpoof Song:
Gentlemen songsters off on a spree/Doomed from here to eternity/Lord have mercy on such as we/Baa! Baa! Baa!
Id rather be Mahhhty Walsh, rehearsing his first snarl as the new Mumbles: Nothing moves in this town without I say so!
State website model, all right of epic failure
Hey Barack, dont tell us youre sorry, we know how sorry you are.
And now it turns out that the state website for signing up to Romneycare, which Dear Leader was bragging about as a national model just last week at Faneuil Hall, is itself a Beacon Hill Benghazi, a Bay State Solyndra, a Deval disaster.
There are differences, of course. The national system has glitches. Ours has bugs. Another difference: At least Obama has apologized, sort of, for his handcrafted fiasco.
I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation, he told his court jesters on the National Barack Channel (NBC) last night.
Did he really say finding themselves in this situation? He makes it sound like this is a natural disaster, like a hurricane, rather than a premeditated murder of the best health care system in the world.
Then theres his pal Deval. He was Baracks Alibi Ike on Meet the Press last weekend. After this, hell be going on injured reserve for a while.
What can you say about a website that asks you if you are incarcerated, and if you say no, it cuts you off? Somewhere, Benjamin LaGuer is smiling. And maybe Deval too.
Speaking of incarcerated, last night the Mass. Health Connector flack suggested folks, as Barack calls his victims, just visit their local Navigators, so-called. Where do you find a Navigator? At a probation office, if the national pattern holds here.
My favorite glitch, er bug, is the one that cuts off applicants with long, hyphenated last names.
It seems only fitting, considering that approximately 99.9 percent of folks who part their names in the middle are Obama-worshipping moonbats.
Its just too funny, but as the old country song goes, I got a funny feeling I wont be feeling funny very long. Sooner or later, probably sooner, Ill be reading Error 404.
I work, ergo Im screwed. Obamacare only works for those who dont. Thats what it was designed to do, and the fact is, it seems to be working perfectly.
Just yesterday, Barack said Obamacare was a really good product. Thats why he had to make it mandatory. Thats why Congress wants nothing to do with it for themselves.
At least the Mass. Health Connectors staggering incompetence is demolishing the myth that Romneycare works. How many stories have you read this week about Mayor-elect Marty Walshs problem with the $400 million in local-aid reductions to Boston in recent years?
Why exactly do you suppose local aid to cities and towns is cratering at the same time state revenues are at an all-time high, coming in at $600 million over budget just last year?
Its because Romneycare is like a tapeworm in the state budget, devouring everything from the inside out. And every year, the kleptocracy that is the Mass. General Court adds another mandate or two. Hey, its only money.
Our money.

Juror No. 12 the real threat to the system
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/13/13
Theyre not making jurors the way they used to.
Like a well-behaved child, a juror is supposed to be seen but not heard, until he or she is polled on the verdict, which is preferably guilty. After which they all ride off into the sunset.
But now, on the day Whitey Bulger finally gets sentenced, we have a moonbat juror looking for her 15 minutes of fame, and theres only one way for a juror to get that, three months after the verdict.
She has to declare that she made a mistake in voting guilty.
I dont know what hes guilty of, to tell you the truth, she told an NBC reporter this week.
You dont know what he was found guilty of? How about 11 murders, just for starters? You voted to convict him.
A call was placed to Juror No. 12, Janet Uhlar-Tinney, yesterday. I got her number from the newspaper of the Cape & Islands Democratic Council. She is, or was, the town chair in Eastham. I told you she was a moonbat.
She did not return my phone call, but thats OK. Ill see her in court today. Shes going, because she seems to have developed a crush on the serial killer, which is pathetic. I mean, its one thing for illiterate teenyboppers to fall for the Joker, but this woman is 57 years old.
Im ashamed to have been on that jury, she told NBC, because the trial was based on half-truths and out-and-out lies.
You mean like Whitey claiming he didnt kill either of the women? Or that he wasnt a rat? Or that he had immunity to kill anybody he damn well pleased?
Apparently, she told Fox 25 the other night, shes started corresponding with the coke-dealing mass murderer. She says hes not sure whether hes going to testify today or not are you kidding me? Theres no way anyone could stop that egomaniacal fiend from shooting off his mouth. Hes a victim, dammit, and he wants everybody to know it!
He feels like the families are being violated, she said, and this will only open more wounds.
So Whitey has turned into a regular Florence Nightingale, is that what shes saying? Hes become a sensitive bleepin guy. Oh yes, shes also bent out of shape that some of the survivors of the people Whitey wasnt found guilty of murdering may be allowed to speak. Thats a threat to our jury system.
Id say a bigger threat to our jury system is the poor quality of jurors, and maybe the feds ought to start asking on their questionnaires whether a potential juror is a Democrat, on the grounds that apparently they can no longer be trusted to weigh evidence and not fall head over heels for a sick serial killer.
Did I mention, shes writing a book about the trial, with an FBI agent? Tell me its not Bob Fitzpatrick, the guy who testified that he cant recall if his memory is going. Lets get this over with and get Whitey on the bus to Florida.

In Whitey Bulgers crosshairs Columnist recalls terrifying days of looking over his shoulder
Thursday, November 14, 2013 by Howie Carr
Whitey Bulger, you wanted to kill me, but Im still alive.
And youre dead. Youre not going to last long in a real prison, you bully, you coward.
I heard youve told some of the guards down at Plymouth you would have killed me for sure but you were concerned about blowback on your brother, who by the way didnt show up one single day at your trial.
First you were going to blow me up with plastic explosives you got from one of your crooked FBI agents. Then you sent out Kevin Weeks with a rifle.
Your edge was always that you had the cops, and you had the pols, and the rest of us didnt. It was a machine, as Joe Murray used to say. He couldnt go up against the machine and neither could I.
Who was I going to tell that you were looking to cap me? As you told extortion victim Michael Solimondo, you owned the FBI, the state police, the BPD. It was like a 1930s Warner Bros. movie, only it was the 1980s, and it was real.
So I had to drive home a different way every night. I stopped making appointments never wanted anyone to know where I was going to be at any specific time. But I still had to drive by the liquor store, with the pols signs in the front window. They were proud of your endorsement. After all, you kept the drugs out of Southie. And you stared at me as I drove around the rotary. Glared right through me. You wanted to kill me for the crime of telling everyone what you and your family were.
One time, on a windy night, I was watching TV when suddenly a tree branch brushed against the window next to me.
It startled me and I dove for the floor. My wife asked what was wrong. Nothing, I said. No need terrifying everybody else in the house.
The cops told me later they used to drive by my house around 3 every morning and shine the spotlight around the bushes out front. I hadnt told them anything but theyd figured out for themselves that I had a problem. I appreciated the gesture.
People sometimes ask me now, why didnt I get a gun? The answer is, what good is a revolver against a machine gun? Jackie McDermott, my old friend from Lowell, was asked the same question by the Lowell cops when Winter Hill started moving in on him. If they wanna get you, he said, it doesnt matter what gun you got, they got bigger ones.
They got Jackie. They didnt get me.
What did your brother say about you? You were just the toughest guy.
You were the toughest guy all right. At least as long as the other guy didnt have a gun.
But then, you didnt want any real men working for you, did you? You ratted them out Howie Winter, Johnny Martorano or you killed them off, like Tommy King and Paulie McGonagle. And speaking of Paulie, Im tired of hearing about this love of your life, Catherine Greig.
She was married to Bobby McGonagle. First you killed his brother Donald, and then you murdered Paulie. But that wasnt enough. The next Christmas, you called the McGonagle home and told Paulies 11-year-old son Sean that his father wouldnt be home for the holiday. He asked who was telling him this.
Santa Claus, you said.
Boy, you were a regular Jimmy Cagney. The cheaper the hood, the gaudier the patter. And then, a few years later, you told the kid you were thinking of using him for target practice.
Catherine couldnt have cared less. What a lady!
I hope you lose it when youre sentenced this morning, Whitey. Tell that judge what you really think of her. Go ahead, make our day, all of us you didnt get around to killing. You know who we are, and we know who, and what, you are. Do we ever.
Goodbye Whitey. Youre not a legend, youre a stain.

Petition to stop the real Big Oil
Howie Carr, Boston Herald 11/17/13
Do you own a car or a truck? If you do, consider doing yourself a favor today sign a petition to stop Big Oil from grabbing more and more of your money, automatically, each year.
Surely youve heard of Big Oil those rapacious energy companies that reap unconscionable profits. But Exxon Mobil, BP, et al., are price-gouging pikers. They make eight cents per gallon. Eight cents! Big Bottled Water makes way more than that.
No, the real Big Oil is the state and federal governments. Talk about windfall profits.
The feds grab 18.5 cents per gallon of gasoline.
The state hacks in Massachusetts rob you of another 26.4 cents per gallon.
And the tax-fattened hyenas dont have to find the oil, pump it out of the ground, then ship it across the continent or the ocean to be refined before it reaches the gas pumps. What the government grabs is a skim, protection money.
And now the state of Massachusetts has come up with a new racket to relieve the taxpayers of still more money the Democrat Legislature last summer passed a bill to peg future increases in the gas tax to the notoriously inaccurate Consumer Price Index.
Beginning in 2015, the state gas tax will go up (but never down) automatically every Jan. 1. Happy New Year. And the Legislature will never have to vote on it again.
When you call your solon to complain, hell shrug and say, Theres nothing I could do about it.
It will be settled law, to coin a phrase.
The hacks claim they need to steal your money for the infrastructure, but thats BS. Theyve already raised the gas tax by three cents this year. And only one-third of these latest tax increases are going to the roads. The rest went to the hackerama.
Look at it another way. Average household income here declined 1.8 percent last year. And state tax revenues came in $627 million above projections.
So you tell me whos taking a beating in this economy. Those who work ... or those who dont?
By itself, this gas tax scam is bad enough. Even worse, the hacks are intently watching to see if they can get away with this highway robbery. If they can, who knows what other automatic tax increases theyll propose? The state Senate this week was debating whether to make future increases in the state minimum wage automatic, which would mean equally automatic increases in the unemployment rate, and in the number of people working under the table and not paying any taxes.
If these people at the State House were any dumber, theyd be working on healthcare.gov.
Theres only one way left to stop this ad infinitum gas tax hike repeal it at the ballot box next November. But first the taxpayers have to get about 70,000 signatures to start the process to put it to a vote. A group called Tank the Gas Tax only has until Wednesday to collect the necessary signatures. To make sure they have enough legitimate signatures, they need a cushion, close to 100,000, and thats where you come in.
Go to tankthegastax.org and find out where you can sign a petition today. Or you can download your own petition and pass it around to your friends at least the ones who arent on the dole. This weekend is your last chance to stop this infernal eternal tax increase, a gift to the hacks that will keep on taking and taking and taking.
Stop Big Oil before Big Oil stops you.
Think I heard Howie says he’s off all next week..would
guess Michele, Col Hunt, Avi filling in
