Report: Obamacare got six enrollees on Day 1
By Jay Hart 22 minutes ago
Six.
That's how many people signed up for Obamacare on Day 1, according to CBS News, and no that's not a misprint.
The Obama administration has kept the number of enrollments close to the vest. Its touted the number of visitors to the troubled HealthCare.gov website 4.7 million but hasn't released the actual number of enrollments.
But according to CBS News, notes from a "war room" meeting the day after the Affordable Care Act launched on Oct. 1 say "six enrollments have occurred so far." By the end of Day 2, enrollments totaled 248 nationwide.
The White House predicted 500,000 would sign up by the end of the month, according to a memo obtained by the Associated Press, and that was considered a "modest start" for the market.
CBS notes that in order to meet the goal of seven million enrollments by March 1, the exchanges need to enroll an average of 39,000 a day.
During Wednesday's Congressional hearing, Health and Human Services head Kathleen Sebelius was asked several times for the number of enrollments. She explained that the data was unreliable and would not be available until mid-November.
"We do not have any reliable data around enrollment, which is why we havent given it to date," she said.

-— Kathleen lied to congress. I wonder if she was under oath? -—
What difference does it make?
Not a dang bit, as proved every dang hearing held on anything.
That is just plain fact.
Do you have any idea how many heart transplants that is? LOL
Of those enrollments, how many of them are poor or non-paying participants?
I bet that all six are millionaires via their Nigerian benefactor.
And they scored copious sweets not lumps of coal like the those poor Obamascare sots.
I’m glad that my training in economics was useful—the art of using numbers to produce whatever outcome the people paying the bills want. Fortunately, I write from Canada so I can watch the train wreck with a certain amount of detachment—indeed, I expect that Obamacare may help to solve Canada’s doctor shortage.
The amount of hubris involved in the whole project is truly astounding. Because the healthcare in Canada is provincially based, the largest system (Ontario’s) serves only 13.5 million and has grown organically over the last 40 years, beginning at a population half that size—admittedly a single-payer system is easier to administer, so if Obama received the green light for what he wanted, it wouldn’t be quite as challenging, but there is no evidence that the bureaucracy is up for that challenge, which, given the sheer scale of things, would be immense.
When I first clicked on Yahoo to check my mail I saw this story listed. I was surprised. By the time I got done checking my email it was gone off the main web page.
Bump
I’m completely against the oh so compassionate government (the British with their Liverpool path and Sebelius with her “some will live and some will die” denial of a lung transplant for the little girl)getting between me and my doctor regarding my health care. What gives them the right??? I was doing fine on my own without their damn interference.
My sister is married to a Dutchman - they are quite liberal. Well guess what? She got brain cancer and her private insurance pays for Avastan - something her husband admitted Holland won’t pay for. She beat the odds of 5% survival in 16 months and now her official odds are 50% for 5 years. I haven’t brought the subject up but my guess is they haven’t admitted their liberalism is bad for your health.
