Then, Republican (TN) Cong. Marsha Blackburn's rapid-fire and astute questioning of Sec. Sebelius yesterday was revealing.
Blackburn went straight to the heart of what should be the Republicans' primary goal in objecting to Obamacare in all its devious and misleading manifestations by using the Democrats' own "freedom to choose" mantra.
She did that by using the simple "red Solo cup" versus the crystal "stemware" illustration.
By focusing on the one-size-fits-all model being imposed for Americans, Blackburn also opened the canker sore that is masked under the talk of "improving health care" options to be that of the "minimum standard," or "inherent vice," of socialist dogma and the policies it demands.
That is what every Republican should be focusing on--the tyranny that is masking itself as benevolent caring.
Churchill said it well:
"The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent vice of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries." - Winston Churchill, House of Commons, October 22, 1945.
Or:
". . . there can be no doubt that Socialism is inseparably interwoven with Totalitarianism and the abject worship of the State. It is not alone that property, in all its forms, is struck at, but that liberty, in all its forms, is challenged by the fundamental conceptions of Socialism." - Winston Churchill, B.B.C radio address, June 4, 1945.
Churchill's words of the 1940's are being revealed to be as valid in 2013 as they were when he uttered them.
"Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy." - Winston Churchill, Perth, May 28, 1948.
Translation for today: Your liberty to choose your doctor, your plan, the features you wish your plan to cover and not to cover, are being denied under the "fundamental" change which is being imposed by imperfect men and women in positions of power in a government structure whose very Constitution denies them the right to such coercive power!
She did a great job. Very articulate and well planned trap.
She made the exact point I was looking for.
“by using the Democrats’ own “freedom to choose” mantra”
Bingo!
I am going to remember to use that.
Freedom to choose — one’s own coverage
I.E.
Freedom to make a legal contract between . . .
. . . consenting adults —
HA! why can’t I make a legal contract with any insurance carrier on any policy with mutually agreeable coverage and terms??
Call it any gender — any carrier — legal contractual marriage. After all marriage is no longer about one man and one woman. Can’t I define marriage to be with an insurance company?? HA!
Why can’t I be self-insured? HA! married to myself.
Well said....now if some at least will hear
