SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — University of California President Janet Napolitano said Wednesday she is devoting $5 million to provide special counseling and financial aid for students living in the U.S. illegally, a move aimed at disarming critics who worried she would be hostile to the small but vocal student population.

The former Homeland Security Secretary announced the initiative in her first public address since she became head of the 10-campus university system a month ago — an evening appearance in San Francisco organized by the Commonwealth Club. She also pledged $10 million for recruiting and training graduate students and post-doctoral research fellows.

"Let me be clear. UC welcomes all students who qualify academically, whether they are documented or undocumented," she told an audience of several hundred people. "Consider this a down payment — one more piece of evidence of our commitment to all Californians.

You can bet her “big plans” don’t include Americans. Especially, heterosexual, male Americans.

"Let me be clear. UC welcomes all students who qualify academically, whether they are documented or undocumented..."

The former head of Homeland Security openly advocating and encouraging criminal activity in contradiction to current federal law. Doesn't get more in-your-face than that.

Isn’t their a codicil in the by-laws of the UC system precluding this sort of thing?

She did it regularly when she was the head of Homeland Security, so why not now?

I have noticed nearly everyone with any juice in this administration gets in our face any time they feel like it. No one has to face any responsibility, no firings, resignations- they even smart mouth congress in hearings in a way that would have had me on my butt at 15 if I had been stupid enough to say them to my mother.

"Documented or undocumented"
If people are "documented" they are here legally. If there are no "documents" they are illegal aliens.

There are always jobs for them for two reasons:
1. They work for peanuts. The minimum wage in California is $10/hour, up from $9/hour. Mexicans can work three months in California and live in Mexico for nine months on what they made in those three months.
2. Foreigners/Mexicans will work for that amount. Americans WILL NOT work for $10/hour--it's NOT ENOUGH, especially for grunt work. They want $25/hour for doing dishes or picking strawberries.

The braceros have been picking fruit during the summer months for as long as I can remember. The problem was always making sure that the DID go back home to Mexico. Most did, some didn't. Muy bad boys.

My guess is that the “stoonts” who were pitching a fit a few years back about UC tuition rate hikes won’t connect the dots either.

Giving criminals benefits that American citizens are denied...paid for by taxpayers....And also a real slap in the face to those foreign students who got Visas, pay full tuition, had to buy health insurance, and cannot legally work outside of school

so Nappy is earmarking? wow from one agency to another to ensure a treasonous , tratorius (sp?) now in the one of the largest university system’s little dictator to ensure the implementation of these awful socialist policies.

If there was one thing I would comment on today and you read it & others read it , I would say this is Now The Socialist Takeover & Future Governmental interference and intrusion on the public learning system.

They are half-way now-don’t you realize most states are signing up for fed funds to implement “Pre-K”? Pre-K my azz-that young child needs to with Mom or Dad. What’s the rush?

Of course, gov’t indoctrination that homosexuality is ok, there is no God, etc., etc., I could go on & on.

Napolitano did not get this job on her own merits, she got it because she’s an implementer of a larger more evil system .
