One of the pro scouts that I know said that as you go around the US today most boys when not in school and doing homework are more prone to be playing video games, movies, soccer, chasing girls, hanging out, and other activities as opposed to kids in Central/South American and the Caribbean who play baseball every waking moment of their day. Most don’t go to school and if they do are not highly motivated to perform there anyway. They play ball 6-7 hours or more a day (weather is better too).

I can see that, but I know there are boys here who also breathe baseball. My son plays almost every day from March to November or at least throws a bit just not 6-7 hours a day.

I still say it is always about the money. In the end the foreign kids make the same money if they become starters on a major team, but they start at a much lower salary for the first few years and I say that somehow figure in the overall cost per player calculations they do.

I’d believe that.
