Republicans Accuse Governor Of Violating Campaign Finance Law

The Connecticut Republican Party today filed a complaint with the state Election s Enforcement Commission, against the Democratic governor.

Republican Spokesperson Zak Sanders made the complaint.

“We believe that the state Democratic Party and Governor Malloy may have been involved in violating state law,” Sanders said. “Certainly that is a very big deal. The people have a right to know if their governor is running around there soliciting contributions to people who could essentially support his re-election campaign.”

The Republicans allege that the governor may have asked a state contractor for a political donation, during a fundraising trip to California.

Malloy visited the west coast to raise money for the Democratic Governor’s Association, and other Democratic causes.

In a press release, Connecticut Democratic Party spokesperson Elizabeth Larkin wrote “This is a baseless complaint and an empty stunt for a press release. What they allege happened, didn’t happen.”

Connecticut Democrats don’t have to follow the campaign finance laws, as everyone knows.
