Respect is nice, and often lacking in today’s society. It’s a two way street though. Treating others with respect is the first step in earning their respect.
I was just a kid in the 1950s. I do remember dressing up for church, and gloves being a necessity to go with the outfit. We also wore “bonnets” at Easter and other special occasions.
I remember that the skirts were really long at church.
For more casual wear, my dad had me a coat, hat, and gloves made out of deerskin from the deer he killed for us to eat. The girls at school had long skirts and bobby sox and penny loafers or oxfords.
Drill team was a big deal, and of course that was a uniform with long skirts.
In 1968, Hubby started a new job as a teacher. We were very poor as he had just graduated from college. I only had 2 choices to wear to a welcome dinner with the school board.
A very unflattering dress, or a pant’s suit. Hubby said wear the pant’s suit, so I did. At that time, female teachers were not allowed to wear pant suits, so I really didn’t want to. However, I finally decided to follow his advice.
I got lots of side-line glances, but no one said a word. I knew I looked good in the suit, so it didn’t bother me too much to have people kinda staring when they thought you weren’t looking. People probably thought I was some sort of feminist.LOL
The proper way is to not get them in the first place, and the BEST way to do that is to wash your face several times a day with plain ivory soap.
The pimple you see today is from some dirt that got trapped into your pores 2 weeks ago
Wash, and wipe with peroxide occasionally too (good for your whole body too)
When I was a freshman in college, I would open doors for women and girls my own age. After the fifth time I got called a sexist pig for doing so, I stopped.
I also would not kiss on the first date. Many of the girls I went on a date with assumed I was gay or not interested since I didn’t try to take off their top or their pants.
Things have changed.
Did she pay your way? If so, she may have been worth keeping— for a while.
