Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican whose father compared President Barack Obama to Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, says the president has "absolutely been abusing his power."
In an interview with Fusion, a new network formed in a joint venture between ABC News and Univision, Cruz said he was "very concerned about . . . the explosion of power in the federal government."
"We've got the NSA seizing our cellphone records, our emails, and we have seen this president expand presidential power in a way that is contrary to the Constitution," Cruz said.
Host Jorge Ramos recounted the comparison Cruzs father, Rafael who emigrated from Cuba during the revolution made between Obama and Castro. Then he asked Cruz whether he agreed, and whether he thought Obama was a dictator.
"Look, obviously there are enormous differences between President Obama and Fidel Castro," Cruz responded.
"But his point was, he was focusing on a statement President Obama made at the State of the Union where he said if Congress doesn't act to enact his agenda that he will do it anyway on his own," Cruz said.
"I think he has absolutely been abusing his power, and when you have a president who says, regardless of whether Congress acts, I'm going to force my agenda on the American people, that's wrong, that's not consistent with our constitutional protections."

RINO’s GW Bush and Dick Cheney had all the intelligence on Obama and knew exactly where he was coming from. They could have put a stop to his campaign in quiet, behind the scenes ways. Both Bushes have done nothing but kiss his azz and chum up to him. They are all New World Order. So your NWO RINO is as bad as RINO Romney.
Answer this question: Would you rather have a demon like that arrogant current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave or someone you call a RINO?
What’s your answer to your own question? Bush was as bad as Romney so I guess I already know.
That’s right. And Bush was as big of a RINO as Romney. The selective indignation of the Romney haters is sickening.
Once again, I cannot see how you are addressing my question. Let me know if you will deign to engage in debate with a real opponent, instead of your preferred straw man.
I see - you are still on the straw man hunt. I hear they are afraid of fire.
I am terribly sorry to have burdened you with a bit of historical truth that doesn’t fit your self righteous world view.
Look at the headlines. You all screwed up.
Bush was as much of a RINO as Romney. Bush was a better candidate than Romney.
I will hold true to my conscience, in defiance of my own past choices. Browbeating me will avail you naught, FRiend.
Party uber alles is an ugly motto.
I’m not browbeating anyone. I’m stating my opinion, which I also believe is fact, that conservatives made a mistake not voting for Romney.
Romney lost because he didn’t win Virgina, Florida or Ohio. He lost those states not because conservatives stayed home but because he failed to appeal to average middle of the road Americans. People want someone to vote for, not just someone to vote against. Romney thought he could just avoid saying what he was actually for so his platform couldn’t be attacked because nobody knew what it was. He failed to offer up a vision for America that people could believe in. We are never going to win just by saying don’t vote for the other guy, he sucks. We have give people a reason to vote for us and Romney failed to do that.
