Yeah, no. He was not shot over a code violation. He was shot because he started shooting at the police. Who are you, MSNBC with this selective reporting?
It is, perhaps, worth noting that the BTK (Bind-Torture-Kill) serial killer took an extended break from his murderous ways.
He got himself a job as a code enforcer and derived enough pleasure from this that he didn’t feel the need to to kidnap, torment, and murder women.
“Your shingles are the wrong color, and that overhang is not up to code!!” blam blam!
...
Yes I only read the headline.
He should have taken notes from Carl Drega and Marvin Heemeyer.
George chose, poorly.
“(Pryor) was on the porch. He went inside, came back out and started shooting.”
If this is true, there is no need for a headline that tries to convince the reader that the police shot him over a non-compliance.
Just remember this the next time your grass gets a little too tall, or you paint your fence the wrong color.....
Do not cross your HOA, or local code enforcement, it may cost you your life!
“That’ll larn ‘im.”
The man may have thought the code enforcement jerk was a thief.
As a matter of fact ...
Just wait until vehicles before a certain year are declared code violations since they may not have a monitoring black box installed by a renegade owner. If the owner defends and loses, the state wins. If the owner gives in and complies, the state wins.
I wouldn’t blame the police. They were just doing their job, as ordered by the town, and they shot back when he started shooting at them.
But I WOULD blame the “code violation” authorities. This sounds like a peaceful country guy with neighbors who have moved in from the suburbs or something, and can’t stand the sight of an old van waiting until he has the time or money to fix it. So they complained to the authorities until the stupid authorities ordered this home invasion.
The police invaded his property and took his van. They were just following orders. But I hate those kinds of orders. Here in Vermont, having old cars and trucks on the place is common. It takes a “flatlander” to move in next door and start complaining about it. Well, I’m a flatlander myself, technically, but when I move to a new place, I respect the local customs. It’s not my business to tell my neighbors what to do.
Wow. I lived in Statesboro for a long time.

Oh, well then..problem solved!
"(Pryor) was on the porch. He went inside, came back out and started shooting. I heard two shots from him. "(Police) took off and began shooting back," said Rose Roberts, a resident of nearby Institute Street. Roberts said she ducked for cover under a house when shots rang out. "After about the third shot, he went down. It was unreal. All of a sudden, everything went wrong."
He shot at the police. The police shot back. Their aim was better. Hardly a surprising turn of events given that.
You don’t mess with blight or parking violators,, just blow ‘em away, and tow what’s left over away.
Was the van damaged?

How about reading the article before replying? The deceased went into his home, came back out and started shooting at officers who returned fire killing the suspect.
code enforcer = PFC with a whistle
I guess he was mad as hell and he wasn’t going to take it any more...
There is a great street view of the van in question...and probably the dead guy on the porch.
Why in the world does the town care about this? That whole street is a dump.
Check out the link to the property.
Ounce again it’s proven who really owns the property you’ve paid for.
