I’m all for going back to pre 70s immigration policies, and expecting immigrants to contribute to the economic and intellectual progress of the US, and adapt to our culture.

The Immigration Act of 1965 abolished the national origins criterion. The vast majority of immigrants now come the Third World and 87% of them are minorities as defined by the USG. From 1925-65 we took in about 300,000 legal immigrants a year. Now it is 1.2 million. In 1970 one in 21 was foreign-born in this country; today, it is one in 8, the highest it has been in 90 years; and within a decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history.

We have close to 45 million foreign born in this country. If it were a country, it would be the 33rd largest in the world. And immigrants vote 2 to 1 Democrat. They also have a much higher rate of usage of welfare programs compared to the native born.

It isn’t forgotten by me, but we need to knock some common sense about illegal immigration into the dying minds of America before traumatizing them with the bigger truth of immigration damage.

Disagree. We need to discuss immigration, legal and illegal, and its impact on American jobs and wages. The decade ending in 2010 was the highest in our history--13.9 million legal immigrants. During that same period, we had a net loss of jobs of 400,000. There must be some correlation between our immigration policy and jobs and the economy. There is are reason why the real wages of American male workers have been declining since 1969. 25% of the adult legal immigrants lack even a high school degree. We are importing hundreds of thousands of high school dropouts annually.

The Gang of 8 bill will double the guest worker program and legal immigration will increase to 33 million over the next decade or about two and one-half times the number that came in during the decade ending in 2010, the highest in our history. It is insanity.

It is insanity

No other country in history has withstood the willful resettlement of this many foreigners and survived.
