has anyone come up with a comparable composite that can take leads place in ammo?

Tungsten and depleted uranium come to mind, I'd stick to lead if at all possible.

Regards,

Fiorina 161 will pick up the slack.

Of course, anything that might be considered “armor piercing” will be banned eventually as well.

I hope so, otherwise it’s just yet more lost manufacturing and the jobs that go with it.

Thanks Nachum.
The Herculaneum smelter is currently the only smelter in the United States which can produce lead bullion from raw lead ore that is mined nearby in Missouri's extensive lead deposits, giving the smelter its "primary" designation. The lead bullion produced in Herculaneum is then sold to lead product producers, including ammunition manufactures for use in conventional ammunition components such as projectiles, projectile cores, and primers.

I invite anyone on this board to google “Herculaneum lead poisoning” to find the true damage this mineral does in an uncontrolled environment.
We need it and depend on it. Production processes to date are deficient.

Doe Run skipped the upgrades that every other mineral processing industry did, including coal, copper, iron ore, etc.

So, the recycle type smelters will get more business....unitl the EPA turns sauron’s eye toward them. Downside, scarcity and higher prices... upside, won’t have to worry about californistan’s impact on the market much longer.
