Rush said something about the Eagles years ago that was roughly the equivalent of, "they want a black quarterback" and they had to get rid of him.
I live in Green Bay, WI. The Oneida Nation is headquartered here. In fact, the Packers have a gate named in honor of the tribe. The connection goes back to an Oneida member named Curly Lambeau, the man we have to thank for the team.
I am sort of puzzled as to why in the world they are pursuing this. Like most folks here in Green Bay, I know the tribe because of their multiple business interests in the area. Things that disrupt that business, the tribe has generally avoided.
If they change the name, and I think the NFL will ask for that, I don't think it is a big deal. It's just a pattern we have seen from them over time.
My advice to the owner of the Redskins is to go to the NFL an agree to change the name on one condition that would be non-negotiable. That condition is that all moneys collected from the sale of the new jerseys, t-shirts, etc, etc, is not shared with the other teams in the league. The Washington Whatevers should get every dime that is generated due to the name change.
