I have taken Hydrocodone as prescribed and I don’t see where it does a helluva lot for pain.
I've taken a narcotic analgesic once in my life...after my hip replacement. When he was discharging me I told the doctor that I wasn't a fan of narcotics and I'd rather take something like Motrin instead. He emphatically advised me to take the narcotic for at least a few days, otherwise there'd be a crescendo of pain (my words, can't recall exactly how *he* put it).I took them for 5 days, then flushed the rest down the toilet and did reasonably well with Motrin thereafter.
Try doubling the dose

I’ve had mixed results. Took it once after minor surgery and didn’t help at all. Nada. Couldn’t tell I’d even taken anything. OTOH, I’ve also taken it for very severe headache and shin splints when tylenol was ineffective and it worked quite well. Oxycodone/percocet seems more effective, though.
I was on it after neck surgery and found its worst side effect was constipation. 3 trips to the ER to get unplugged were not fun times.
Me, too; however, I once took two (of the two prescribed) when I thought I was about to have the anticipated kidney stone attack. (When oxycodone is most effective).
I didn't realize I had been living a long time with various other painsas they evaporated one by one.

My doctor prescribed Oxycotin for severe rib pain due to a very bad bout of pneumonia. I held off taking it until bedtime. All it did was gave me the jitters and made my face itch. Who the hell would want this crap?
