I do not understand why he would want to shoot this guy without any legitimate justifiable reason to do so.

Because he could. And he would have gotten away with it if that pesky citizen hadn't had a camera.

I remember this and watched the video. Fired? Effing fired? What about his effing partner? Fired?

Why aren’t both of these so-called LEOs in jail for murder?

If her son never got violent, why did the mother call the police over a picture?

Don’t call the police over a stupid argument.
Ever.

Cuz the victim didn’t die. You mean attempted murder - I highly agree - THEY should be in prison.

This son-of-a-bitch got his ass fired and it’s being reported that the DPD is going to refer criminal charges against him.

God, I hope they do because he deserves it. Now, this guy’s partner confirmed every bit of his story........before the private security cam footage was known about. He deserves charges as well.

I will only call the police to my home if I am completely out gunned and out numbered by home invaders, or for them to come and take a report and draw some chalk outlines around failed home invaders. Everything else will be handled as a private family matter.

It probably had to do with something the victim said to the cop. All it takes is one wrong word, and people with bipolar disorder are very good at saying the wrong words at the wrong time.

Take a simpler case.... you or I getting a traffic ticket. Say the wrong word to the police, and you will be getting much more than a ticket.

This is why "law enforcement" hates citizens with cameras. Both of these cops should be fired and charged.

Doesn't the police academy teach them to always get the guy with the camera first? < /sarc >

FINALLY. Finally they fire one of these sociopaths who have been infiltrating our police forces. No more free vacation for you, you piece of crap.

They now need to do the same for the lying piece of crap partner of the fired cop. Cops with such total lack of integrity needs to be excised from the force.

Agree. “Regrets: Bennett’s mother, Joyce Jackson, says she wishes she hadn’t called for help when her son become agitated after trying to take this picture from her home”

I’m surprised that they didn’t arrest the neighbor with the surveillance camera for obstruction of justice.

Because some officers are psychopaths that want an excuse to use their weapons for some twisted reason because they weren’t rooted out during the psych evaluation / hiring process. They know the ‘appropriate’ responses to conceal their nuttiness. I watched the video several times. The man was clearly not a real threat, the officer used deadly force when it wasn’t warranted, and then he lied about what happened. The officer needed to be fired and have assault with a deadly weapon, official oppression, and filing a false police report charges filed against him.

Only in DC. The witness would have gone on extended vacation and never be heard from again.../s

after a neighbor released surveillance video capturing the incident that showed nothing documented in the police report actually happened.

I would love to know the story behind this release. Did the neighbor try to give it to the police, or did he give it directly to the media or the internet because he expected it to be buried by the police. They would likely even have gotten a quick court order prohibiting its release if they knew about it.
