Maybe cops should be better trained to think a bit more first.

It would seem that I got BETTER training in my 3 hour NRA First Steps Pistol Course.

!. Always Point the gun in a safe direction
2. Finger OFF the trigger
3. Assume it is LOADED

(and, further into the book...NEVER point the gun at a family pet. NEVER, NEVER.)

That's just it. It's my firm belief that they are trained NOT to think, just to react according to a strict protocol. It's all part of the "death of common sense."
