The no giggling rule should apply as well.

“I tell my clients no cleavage and no spike heels in court”

I refuse to dress like a man while in court. I NEVER wear pants. I never show any inappropriate skin but I do wear STILETTOS. That’s right people, stilettos. My “uniform” for court is a fashionable jacket, pencil skirt cut right at the knee, panty hose (my younger counterparts refuse to wear them), and a classic close toe “spike heel”(think classic Jacqueline Kennedy). I have never left the courthouse without someone (usually men) stopping me and complementing my attire. Smart women do not have to dress like a tart to get attention (does anyone say “tart” any more?)

As for my clients, they usually follow my lead with conservative attire after seeing what I wear in the office, but I do feel your pain. Unfortunately, more often then not, it is the female attorney whose attire is sexually inappropriate. They get away with it all the time. So sad.
