The Marine Corps is contemplating a uniform change that would create a unisex service cap. The Marines are also exploring whether to have women use a slightly modified version of the hat used by male Marines instead of the distinctive “bucket cap” they now wear. If the unisex design is chosen it would be the first change to that part of the Marine uniform since 1922.
A Marine official says that recently the Marine Corps Uniform Board, comprised of non-commissioned officers and officers, discussed a change in the headgear known as a “cover” as a means of streamlining uniform rules for men and women. Since 1952 female Marines have worn distinctive service caps known as “bucket cover.” About 6 percent of the 195,000 Marines in active duty are women.

Are you old enough to remember the old Army cylindrical fatigue caps? They looked something like what DeGaulle or a French cop might wear, but olive drab. They may have been Jackie Kennedy’s idea since she was a real francophile.
But they didn’t travel well (and neither did JFK, I suppose) and Castro started wearing them, hmmm, so about ‘64, Gen. Westmoreland and other trendsetters introduced the ‘baseball cap.’
They’re leaning toward a “unisex” hat like women marines wear now. Cost for the new “unisex” hat would cost millions of dollars since 95% of marines are men. Unreal that this issue is even being discussed at a time like we find ourselves in now.

The current Marine Corps Covers cost 240,000 dollars. The NEW “Unisex” will cost...8 MILLION DOLLARS.

Dress Blues are not standard issue to all Marines afaik. So, I don't see how this would cost anybody much money.
And although the "unisex" cover is a terrible idea for the male Marines, I don't think it would look bad on the females.

After bootcamp I wore my bus driver hat one time that I recall..Always used the green or khaki piss cutters.
