I have gotten a lot of flack about saying they should have temporary work cards. I just thought it would make them easier to find and label and maybe get taxes out of.

Well, you shouldn’t be getting flak over your comment. I understand your intentions are good. But if we can use history as a guide, we know they don’t want to play by the rules.
They don’t want to be legalized when it comes to working and paying taxes. They came here primarily to work under-the-table.
They want all the benefits of being here (social services, voting for representatives that give them money and benefits confiscated from others, national protection, quality of life) without any of the legal headaches (paying taxes, having to have car insurance, etc.).
The dems just want them to come out en mass and vote for dems. They know that a lot of them already vote illegally. But what they want is all of them to be out voting, even those who are too intimidated to vote illegally.
Robert K. Dornan found the Republican Party in 1997 unresponsive to the fraud which he had experienced. Same with Woody Jenkins, beaten out of the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana. In Jenkins’ case, Trent Lott was a secret Mary Landrieu advocate.
