Democrats disturbed by Obamacare rollout -- and GOP criticism
Los Angeles Times ^ | October 23, 2013 | By Lisa Mascaro

President Obama’s Democratic allies in Congress said Wednesday they are “not happy” about the glitch-filled rollout of the healthcare law, but criticized Republicans for trying to kill Obamacare rather than fix it.

“It’s very disturbing to see that the website hasn't performed as well as we would like,” said Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.), the No. 4 Democrat in the House, emerging from a private briefing with administration officials. “I think it's even more disturbing when individuals intentionally work against the American people and the rights that they have now secured to access quality, affordable health care.”

“It's also not just about a website: Health insurance is about health security for millions and millions of Americans who heretofore have not had the ability to afford health insurance,” said Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.). “Under the Affordable Care Act, that's about to change for them. Republicans are looking for problems to exploit, we Democrats are looking for problems to fix and to find solutions for.”

RE :”We need to say,
“It’s not Republicans’ fault that a “Health Insurance Monopoly” that makes insurance companies RICH does so by making healthy people POOR!”
“It is the Democrats who betrayed American here, all by themselves.”

Dems did in fact create Obamacare by themselves.
2012 when Obama rollled out all the freebees, the candy, and promised to provide millions of uninsured Americans health care for ‘free’ just by taxing away some Romneys money they dont need, then Dems arguments went better.

But the rubber meets the road finally and if milllions are thrown off of their health policies and forced to exchanges where the coverage is worse and the costs are higher,
then the magic show run ends and reality sets in.

Obama is just as frustrated as we are , well not really *we*, but them.

Let me get this straight: sure, the 0bamacare rollout was an unmitigated disaster, but the real problem is that the Republicans pointed it out. Yeah, that'll fly. I'm guessing somebody didn't focus-group that little howler before belching it out.

Some have suggested Sebelius should be fired for the problems, but Democrats said Wednesday there was ample time for officials to be held accountable.

Absolutely. Plenty of time to hold officials accountable, just after they get through holding officials accountable for the IRS abuses, Benghazi, and Fast and Furious. Any day now.

The Democrats have amassed seventy-plus years of undermining and sabotaging our country’s economy, national security and freedom, and they want Republicans to help them fix a program that never should have been passed in the first place. THEY alone botched the implementation . . . NUTS! In other words, they want Republican help to further F’ up our country. What kind of idiotic logic is that? Of course there will be Republicans who will want to run to their rescue. . . and insanity will continue to rule the day.

When are we going to start ruthlessly ridiculing these clowns???

While desperate Democrats attempt to blame Republicans for opposing Obamacare and wanting to see it fail, they will have a far more difficult time trying to blame Republicans when Americans realize they've been conned and are seeing their health care insurance evaporate or the cost brought up to unconscionable levels. Blaming the Republicans won't fly, then, as Republicans have been against Obamacare from the jump. Even the RINO's were smart enough to not vote for the PPACA. As has been rightly stated, Democrats own Obamacare and they will suffer for passing this overreaching piece of socialism. I can see the real possibility of winning a Republican senate majority in 2014, based on the public's revulsion to Obamacare.

The RATs want the Repubs to stick their finger in the shit-pie so they can be blamed for all of it.
And the way things are going, Boehner just may taste it.

Blaming others for one’s own actions or inactions is a direct indicator of someone who refuses to take responsibility for their own actions or lack of actions.

Two year old children often behave that way: Barry, Holder, Reid, Pelosi, Mrs. Bill Clinton, McCain - - - did I leave anybody out?

“When are we going to start ruthlessly ridiculing these clowns???”

Well..... you two said it best. It’s so easy to see from our side. Cruzin and Lee tried and started the ball rolling. But you just KNOW the likes of Tokyo Rove and Bonehead, no chin Ditch Mitch are hiding under their desks, amassing the “let’s be nice to the dems again”. If it were me, I’d ripe them a new one every day.

Grab a microphone and DO IT, you wimpy GOPe!!!!

They should, but they aren’t , and yet they are getting blamed for it anyway.

Republicans are like Sponges, they sit there and absorb all the crap tossed at them without response.

I am enjoying the hell out of this.

The shutdown fight was very depressing because we all knew how it would end, just not exactly when.

In this one Obama is the center of all the crisis stories.

I love to see them the Dems made to dance, instead GOP getting the whippings

Somebody needs to photoshop a dunce hat or a beanie with a propeller on Obama in the clip where he is lecturing about how good ObamaCare is. I aways thought “Zer0Care” was a better name for it. Turns out it was prophetic.

And then there is Jay (Run Forrest Run) Gump Carney who can’t stand still long enough to answer a legitimate question. I am beginning to expect him to start prefacing all of his answers with, “Like my Mama always says. . . .”

If the GOP (or some other patriotic group wishing to derail ObamaCare) wish to stop this monstrosity, there is, right now, an easy way to do so. The airwaves should be blanketed with ads, directed at the young, healthy folks that have to sign up in big numbers. These ads should simply advise them (truthfully) that the ACA severely limits the IRS’s tools to collect the penalty for not obtaining compliant coverage. All it can do is deduct the penalty from any refunds due the taxpayer. The IRS is prohibited by the law from filing criminal charges or, as I understand it, even placing a lien or levy on the taxpayer’s bank accounts or property. It may accumulate these penalties, and assess interest charges, but the penalty still can only be collected from refunds due.

So the way to topple this unconstitutional, budget-busting power-grab by the dems: convince millions of young Americans to forego coverage and march down to their payroll office to fill out forms to increase dependents claimed to make sure that no refund is due (or lower estimated tax payments for individuals not subject to withholding). Many will probably want to talk to their tax advisor to make sure they do not underpay by so much that they incur penalties.)

An additional attraction of this strategy: If millions of young American taxpayers have their withholding reduced or cut their estimated tax payments, the Treasury’s receipts from withholding would decline precipitously, substantially increasing borrowing requirements.

If this offensive was mounted by the GOP, it could be accompanied by a pledge to repeal Obama are and simultaneously pass legislation refunding any penalties collected and dissolving any unpaid penalties and accumulated interest. A new GOP president could make signing such legislation her first order of business in January 2017.

I think it can be simpler than that. All the healthy youths just opt out, pay the measly $95 and move on. The insurance companies have to have a substantial number of these youths to buy insurance. When that happens, the (un)affordable becomes very (un)affordable and it all spirals out of control.

The penalty is potentially significantly more than $95 - it is $95 or 1% of the taxpayer’s income, whichever is greater (to a maximum of the lowest price bronze plan available to the taxpayer); the penalty is increased further in 2015 and again in 2016, and thereafter is indexed to inflation. And it is also substantially higher for two-person and full-family plans. Except for relatively high-income taxpayers, however, you are correct. It might indeed be less expensive to pay the penalty and be done with the whole mess - at least in 2014 and even 2015.
