A 24-year-old Danvers High School teacher has been found dead, and a 14-year-old boy is being held without bail on a charge of murdering her.
Math teacher Colleen Ritzers body was found in the woods behind the school, said Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
Philip D. Chism was ordered held without bail at his arraignment this afternoon in Salem District Court. Judge Matthew Nestor approved funds for a mental competency evaluation. Chism is to be tried as an adult; a probable cause hearing was slated for Nov. 22.
Chism had been reported missing Tuesday after he did not return home from school. Ritzer was reported missing at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday when she did not return home and did not answer her cellphone.
Police searched the school and found blood in a second-floor bathroom. Ritzers body was found later behind the school, Blodgett said in a news conference this morning at the high school.

I notice it says “blood in second floor bathroom” but doesn’t make mention if it was a staff bathroom, men’s room, or ladie’s room.
Probably because they don’t want too much info out in the press, though it will get there anyway due to people IN the school talking.
“Bad guys always go where guns are banned. When is the last time you heard of a mass shooting at a police station or a gun range?”
Not even out Navy SEALs are safe at our gun ranges. Remember Chris Kyle?
These people are evil and we must protect ourselves everywhere.
How is a juvy being pictured and named? Have the guilty white libs gone wild? Has Obama and sons jumped the shark?
Assault and murder nothing in the story said shooting
It’s time we quit protecting juveniles...the current crop is far more dangerous than those of the past. My generation used to roll up a pack of cigarettes in our shirt sleeve; those of this generation would cut your heart out and eat it without blinking.
Knifed her in the lav and dragged her to the woods.By himself, scrawny looking kid.
Update: Danvers High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer, 24, of Andover, was stabbed to death sometime Tuesday night. Her body was later discovered in the woods near the school.
I think a little teacher student hankie.pankie is invovled. after hours.
He is 6’, some big star athlete.
The Terminator
Yeah no kidding.
When I graduated high school back in ‘91, our school was pretty much open in that after hours the doors would be locked.
I went back to visit a few of my former teachers while on leave before I shipped out overseas to Germany not even two years after I graduated, and the school was like a virtual fortress... Mag locked doors that you needed a swipe card, or had to hit the call button to get buzzed in. The front office had countertop to ceiling bullet proof glass installed, there was an armed police officer on campus, as well as metal detectors at the main entrance.
All because of some social experiment by the liberals that said that innercity children were not getting the same quality education as those of us in the suburbs. So to level the playing field, they started bussing innercity ‘utes out to the ‘burbs and what happened in my town as a result was a 1000% increase in gang activity. And once the roaches check in, they don’t check out until everything around them is destroyed.
Charged as an adult.
Why was she there at night?

Still he is 14 and while if he is guilty he deserves the hot shot I’m still going to guess that his “community leaders” are going to throw a racial tantrum over the adult part of this.
She was probably forcing the young boy to have sex and he was so revolted that he killed her. (sarc)
Check his birth certificate — he looks older than 14.

Reports earlier today on local news indicated the teacher was stabbed. Not shot.
