If the parent is packing a lunch, then they are at least taking the time to make it and most likely cannot afford the lunch if they ARE packing. Not everyone qualifies for free lunches.
Without nutrition information stamped on its side, even an orange probably wouldn’t be allowed in these statist schools.
Talking about over reaching one’s authority. sheesh.
Well, Daisy Luther, if you care so much about your kid, why aren’t you home teaching?
My daughter is allowed the occasional school lunch in the same spirit that we allow the occasional McDonalds meal. A little junk food won’t hurt you; a lot will.
I would take my child out of that school immediately! Put
your child in a private school where they can get a decent
education.
The next thing you know, the feds will require a doctor’s note, just to go to the bathroom. The govt is infested with idiots, socialists and communists.
The author is writing about a note another parent received. For all you know, she does home-school.
Daisy Luther writes an organic prepper blog.
must have all the little children on board in order to subsidize the farmers
The lions share of agricultural subsidies aren't going to "farmers", in any sense that most of us would use the word.
Wrong answer with the discussion about possible contaminants and such. It is a parent’s RIGHT and OBLIGATION to feed their children whatever they feel is reasonable. Parents have to rise up and DEMAND the Fed/State/Local government screw off.
Although I don’t doubt that govt. bureaucrats are capable of this,The letter, as pictured, does not look like official govt. correspondence.
The parents are getting what they pay for. That is, they've surrendered their 3 and 4 year olds to the state. Why should they get to choose what they eat?
(PS: I don't like Head Start programs. Parents should raise their kids, even if they don't do it very well. JMHO.)
When I went to school 1952-1964, the school lunches were great (except the ones at Aztec, NM, beyond horrible).
Where we lived close to the school we went home for lunch. I still remember the lunch meat and mustard on white bread sandwiches mom made and the glass of cold milk. They were great!
When we lived in the oil and gas camps, where there was no lunch at school, we took our lunches and they still were great.
Best lunches were in Denver Colorado, 1953.
Is this a confirmed true story?
What is the Virginia school district?
What is the school?
Note that the mother’s concern about healthiness, and the health comparison of school lunches vs her lunches, is irrelevant.
Just shut up and bow.
Not the bathroom per say, but WHICH BATHROOM.
So this is ObamaLunch?
Force the children to pay for lunches at schools in order to fund the growers and distributors?
So, not only will parents pay for their groceries at home, they will also pay for their children's lunches at school so they can redistribute this money to others in the school lunch system?
How is forcing schoolchildren with ready access to home food to buy school lunches any different than forcing healthy young people to purchase health insurance that they don't want or need?
This is nothing but an individual mandate on children to buy school lunches. I think that there have been many court cases already where government bans on using your own products were overturned as de facto forcing of people to use the government product. I wish I could be more specific, but my memory isn't that good.

Clearly a sack lunch is an impediment to interstate commerce. The feds MUST exercise their authority. /s
Who pays the piper calls the tune.
Every day I feel more and more like I’m living inside Alice in Wonderland’s looking glass.
