I don’t believe the story either.
she had to LOOK for the boy?
the gunshot and smell of gunpowder didn’t clue her in?
I think they need to swab her hands before they close this case
Thank you for the clarification.
It if was .40 cal then it was probably a semi-auto. Since a 5 year old probably wouldn't know how and wouldn't be strong enough to chamber a round in a semi it means this kid left a handgun with a round chameber in a living room in easy access of a 5 year old. Whether she was taking a nap or not this was sheer irresponsibility in just about every respect.
The number of gun “accidents” being reported by the MSM is growing.
After “commonsense immigration reform,” bet your ass that Obama’s going after guns again. The MSM needs to be investigated. Our country is getting out of hand.
If she was in a bedroom and found the kid in the living room then how hard would she have to look? I imagine she would have walked right to him.
If you had it in a holster on your hip and fell asleep, would you feel him drag it out?
Must be a rough town for the young woman to believe shee needed a firearm, or there’s a stalker bothering the owner/sitter.
One mistake is all it takes, no second chances.
Yep, something doesn’t pass the smell test.
Ever been to Vidor? :)
A handful of tragic events like this happen every year.
And we can count on the MSM to drag every one of them out as national news.
Minor technical correction. I am commenting on federal law here as state laws may differ. The law states that under 21 many not PURCHASE a handgun. This does not prohibit the ownership of a handgun. To get even more hyper technical, the law prohibits a FFL holder from selling a handgun to someone under the age of 21, it does not restrict private individuals from selling to those under the age of 21.
There are two possible ways a person may own a handgun under the age of 21. They can buy from an individual or receive a gift from someone else. The second possible way is to manufacture their own handgun which they can own but may never transfer.
Again, state laws can add a whole lot of other restrictions to this so always check with the local laws.
And if she did, indeed, “wake up” to the sound of the gunshot, why did it take so long to *run in the direction of the shot* (because, being a concerned babysitter, *obviously* she would be motivated to run to *protect* both children) to find him?
This is not one of those horrible accidents. This story doesn't add up.
Not buying this as told. Who can take a nap with a five year old boy around anyway?? AND they leave a gun out? So, was she drunk or high? Or did she just make the story up out of whole cloth?
I’ll take “she made the story up” for $500, Alex.
Neither do I. A gunshot inside the house would awake you in an instance. And leaving it out where a 5 year old could get to it is beyond reckless.
Vidor. That’s a creepy place.
Extreme carelessness to knowingly leave it in reach of the kid. Why would a sitter nap, anyhow? Shouldn’t she be watching the kid? Zoned on something? I hope it’s not worse, that she did not actually kill the kid on purpose.
Well, forensics are better today than they used to be. They probably booked her based on her account, which is trouble enough. But I’m sure they’ll take a closer look. If shooting residue on her... well hello gurney, we will help you out of this world.
