How You and Your Family Can Escape Obamacare
PJ Media ^ | 10-22-13 | Bryan Preston

The Affordable Care Act runs more than 2,600 pages and now hundreds of thousands of regulations. No one knows every single provision that is in the law, which Congress did not even bother to read before passing it. Among its most controversial provisions is the mandate forcing Americans to purchase health insurance or face fines from the IRS. Those fines can even take the form of wage garnishment. Americans who fail to comply and pay the fine can end up in jail.

There is, though, a provision buried in Obamacare that provides a way out of having to comply with the individual mandate. Pages 107 and 128 of Obamacare stipulate that members of “healthcare sharing ministries” are exempt from the individual mandate.

Healthcare sharing ministries are non-profit entities created to allow Christians to pay into a fund and then tap that fund when they need to pay medical expenses. So there’s one catch — you have to be meet the healthcare sharing group’s membership requirements to join, and as ministries they maintain that you must be a Christian regularly attending church before you can become a member.

Healthcare sharing ministries can approve and decline claims, and rates can increase or decrease over the life of a policy. Some do not require physical exams before joining and do not turn down people with pre-existing conditions.

I don’t see it that way. I paid a lot over the years. Money isn’t the only form of payment.

I also have my second career now. And believe me I pay my share of taxes now just as I did while in the military.

As he didn’t say where he lives overseas, I wouldn’t assume he needs insurance. Absent the insane cost increases imposed by the western health bureaucracies there are places that medical expenses can be covered just fine out of pocket.

That wasn’t the point.....the point was how does 34 a month do anything....and the answer was that it doesn’t...unless it’s subsized. Whether or not that subsidy is earned or justified or whatever is a totally different thread.

I was making a factual statement without EDITORIAL slant......because that’s not what this particular thread is about.

That sounds interesting. Bypasses Obama-care.

Let us know how it goes.

SO TRUE it bears repeating....and it's on subject too. The way these share groups, and the Mennonites, and the concierge groups works is that they too bypass all of that bureaucratic load.....

Naw, it’s one freaky split in the middle hairdo of gray hair. Does look like a boob-bra though. He should have a long beard- in their tradition all married men do.

...and those dollars also go to buy you peace of mind - and peace of mind in and of itself helps one stay healthy - that others will help you if you need it........that’s why its such a superior system.....

The point is not that it’s time to find a new church, the point is this requirement of the plan brings into play an unnecessary component...a component that adds nothing to the plan but risk.

They need to find some way of verifying that the individual applying is actually a Christian.

The point of this post is the working of the care plan, not the working of a church or a particular pastor.

All the pastor is doing is verifying that you attend church regularly and are a Christian. After this your pastor is uninvolved in anything relating to your healthcare.

Sure, all you need to do to make the IRS obey the law, is to hire a good tax lawyer.

Thankfully, they work for free.

Those are the rules.. for now..

Exactly.

This Obamafia has a perfect record of doing whatever they damned well please.

Legal or Constitutional or not, nothing has been proven able to stop them. Has anything happened recently to change that?

Oh, is that what your Bible says is the test...a pastor letter? You must have a different translation than I do.

Yes, I full well know what they are getting at....but you STILL MISS MY POINT...that they are doing it in a flawed manner..........so so flawed...many church members are NOT really Christian and many REAL Christians are NOT church members. Think about it.....

“exempts an individual from certain taxes if he is “a member of a recognized religious sect or division thereof”

How can you have the law mention a “recognized religious sect” that you carefully adhere to the rules of, unless Congress is violating the first amendment language stating, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”?

Recognized = Law respecting
(I know,,,)

They cant turn you down legally, you know those pre-existing conditions. Just like those people standing behind Obama on TV in Rose Garden Monday.

When I called Blue Cross after my policy was cancelled one of the things the salesman told me was eventually you will only be able to sign up for health insurance from Oct.-Dec.. The only exceptions being loss of coverage or change in family status.

RE :”Sure, all you need to do to make the IRS obey the law, is to hire a good tax lawyer. Thankfully, they work for free. “

I would guess that many would line up to take the case for free to be the one that sets the precedent, given the way the law is written.

Thanks so much for this, sickoflibs. Looking this up was on my to-do list tonight.

I wish the Catholic Church had a health sharing ministry.

China has government-approved Christian churches. That’s probably where the USA is headed.

Glad to help.
I was posting about it so much in comments I got fed up and decided to make it a blog post for easy reference.

I just want freepers to have the facts.
