Virginia and Moronland are just bedroom communities for goobermint “workers.”
I’m from Maryland and you will finally have governor more crooked and despicable than ours
neener neener
seriously WTH is WRONG with your people? I can’t STAND McCauliffe’s face voice or anything..... he is a total jerk. Eddie Haskell on steroids.
You read that, huh? Well, I live here, and I can tell you Ken Cuccinelli has a solid conservative record. When Obamacare was passed, he was the first state attorney general to file suit against the mess, immediately afterward. I don't know about any McCain advisor, but as for his supposed criticism of Cruz, a Freeper who was there---and I wish I could recall who it was so I could ping him---said it did not happen that way.
I remember that the hard left sources such as Daily Kos and Huffington Post were the ones who ran with that story; to my knowledge, no reputable outlets ever confirmed it.
There's never going to be a tape of a democrat advocating a shutdown of the government because democrats stand for BIG government. It would be like Nancy Pelosi coming out and publically demanding that all Planned Parenthood clinics be closed or the NRA coming out in support of banning all guns.
John McCain, however, did come out and blame republicans for the government shutdown and it was not a situation where he was secretly recorded... he said it on national TV.
That is why the republicans were blamed for the shutdown. Of course the dems are going to try to blame the republicans, but McCain dishonestly confirmed it
The GOP led House passed a bill that would have kept government open and that bill sat on Harry Reid's lap. He refused to allow a vote. The Senate shut down the government, the House bill would have kept it open.
I never saw McCain or any other RINOs rushing to the microphones to condemn the White House's "Make it(the shutsown) hurt the American people" statement.
Hey, I am not know for likin McCain and Grahamnesty but its too simple of a theme to claim that they were important enough to end it.
Losing 60% of GOP senators at the start, 80% of all Senators, when you needed at least 40% of all Senators to stop anything (that first vote) , was right there a claer message to the House.
RE :”There’s never going to be a tape of a democrat advocating a shutdown of the government because democrats stand for BIG government. “
You are getting warmer. That leads to why the fate of a shutdown fight is certain.
RE :”That is why the republicans were blamed for the shutdown. Of course the dems are going to try to blame the republicans, but McCain dishonestly confirmed it “
The confirmation was that the GOP caved. That was the strongest, the GOP Senate gave up early on and then on deadline Eve Boehner gave in.
All Dems cheered,... ‘see, we told you so’
Nothing surprising,.
Newt caved exactly the same in 1996.
Here is a legit question, then, what can be done to make sure the conservative public image remains intact enough so that they actually can keep the House and win a majority in the Senate? They have about 13 months to do so, what can they do, and what progress is being made so that by Nov of next year, the public is still not holding the House GOP solely responsible for the shutdown and voting based on those feelings?
Thing is, the last prolonged shutdown, in 1996, led to Clinton winning election and a massive Democrat victory in Congress too. I think this is one reason why older Republicans, even those who agreed with the principles behind the shutdown, were not nearly as enthusiastic as Team Cruz to begin with. They may have remembered what happened in 1996 and feared that conservatives and Republicans did not have the ability to explain themselves that they would need to stop a repeat of it. As conservative stalwarts like PJ O Rourke and Thomas Sowell himself have said, this has been a serious issue with conservatives/Republicans for decades now.
So what do we do and what progress has been made as of now?
The thing is, Rasmussen< i had thought, was one of the few polls that didn’t artificially collect sample in favor of Democrats, unless I am mistaken. If they are reporting a 17 % Dem lead, that is utterly mortifying and heart wrenching.
It would be nice if the republicans tried.
I will not sign a budget in Virginia unless it includes the Medicaid expansion, - Terry McAuliffe, 2013
McAuliffe might win, but it is not going to be by 17 points. Look, if anyone believes that McAuliffe is going to outpace Obama in this state, I’ve got some bridges to sell.
In response to your question, the 2014 off-year election is not going to be the same as 1996, which was a presidential year. Most of the house districts are so gerrymandered that at most, either party will net maybe 10 seats. Republicans should (I said SHOULD) pick up Senate seats, based on geography alone.
Yeah well assmussen has obama at 50% approval also. Anyone buying that bovine poop?
They ARE trying in VA... We’re simply outnumbered now.
rasmussen was bought out by leftists and scott retired. They have obama at 50% approval. Do you believe that?
Virginia is still a red state overall, but the cancerous growth of liberalism spreading out from around the DC area has caused this shift. Makes me so sad for my state. :-(
The lead for McAwful may be closer to 11 or 12... But it’s rather academic at this point.
Libertarian candidates take precious FEW votes away from DemocRATS.
This is the what happens with 3rd parties... They let PURE POND SCUM, Terry McCauliffe (and Bill Clinton) get elected.
