The 17 point margin seems awfully large, irrespective of how weak Cuccinelli is as a candidate. In New Jersey, one of the bluest of states, a conservative Republican lost the race to take the US Senate seat, but received 45% of the vote. The only Republican area in New Jersey is the northwestern counties bordering Pennsylvania. Most of rural and small town Virginia is Republican.

I agree. While VA is well on its way to being a Democrat state, it's not Massachusetts. My guess is that when all is said and done, it will be in the 6-8 point range. 17 points is not credible.

Most of rural and small town Virginia is Republican. Which represents the one flicker of hope that McAuliffe's Obama/Clinton-dictated agenda can be slowed by a still-GOP House of Delegates.
