GOP Congressman no longer open to immigration deal, citing Obama's winner-take-all approach to governance.
Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), the vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committees subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, has changed his mind and now opposes any efforts to grant amnesty to Americas at least 11 million illegal immigrants. Poe said his stance is a specifically a result of President Barack Obamas style of dealing with congressional Republicans during the recent government shutdown and debt ceiling battles.
"The President has proven over the last few weeks that negotiating means conservatives must give in and that it's his way or no way, Poe said in an email to Breitbart News. In his opinion, there is no compromise, just intimidation with inflammatory rhetoric. The President is putting his political agenda ahead of what's best for America."
"He wants to do what's best for his legacy," the Congressman said of the President. "Conservatives want to do what's best for our nation."
...
Poe becomes the latest conservative Republican to go back to being an immigration hardliner and, like the others, he claims it is because of President Obamas demonstrated refusal to negotiate.

No Bill on the FLOOR - EVER! That’s how you solve the Immigration problem!
Because both parties want to pork it up. It’s easier to hide that way.
Riiiight...I'd say it has more to do with phone calls, faxes, emails, tweets and polling from within his district.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

looking for a way out? Interesting theory.....you may be onto something...
But timing is everything and right now timing is off.
...........
I don’t have any inside information but judging by what I see in the media—it looks like key pubbies have hardened their positions against amnesty as long as obama is around.
Poe used to be good on Border Security/National Security...and was the main House rep to go after Bush when he railroaded Ramos and Compean after they shot an illegal alien drug dealer entering the US illegally with Mexican Drug Cartel dope.
His position as Vice Chair means he can have killed any legislation proposed in the comittee
Anything that is not 100% Deportation is Amnesty...and any House member who does not go with that supports Amnesty. Need to keep on their tails
Agreed. The House got rolled by the scumbag Senate thanks mainly to the Chicken Little Democrat newsrooms convincing people that a "government shutdown" was horrific beyond words!, and the possibility that America might "default" was simply unthinkable, oh my!
With comprehensive illegal alien "reform", there is no impending "doomsday" scenario for the scumbag Democrat newsrooms to scare people with, and so the House can tell the Senate to go play in the street - - which they will. Comprehensive illegal alien "reform" is dead. And I agree that it is dead largely because of the African communist Ubama's heavy-handed tactics over the past few weeks.
They are already dead to me.
