That number understates the reality. If you toss out the needle sharers and look only at HIV cases that are sexually transmitted, homosexuals probably account for over 95% of HIV cases.

Women don't transfer the virus very efficiently to men. So, any man that only has sex with women and doesn't do IV drugs, has almost no chance of contracting HIV. Any woman who avoids sex with bisexuals (easier said than done if you are promiscuous) also has almost no chance of contracting HIV.

I suppose a true lesbian would really, really be unlikely to contract HIV.

You are correct!! AIDS is at least 90% gay to gay transmitted. Some women get it from gays or bisexuals
And like you and common sense says--- In any encounter between a man and a woman the man is much better at giving HIV/AIDS to a woman
