Shale gas companies operating in Europe will soon have to respect a muscular legislative package which the European Commission is preparing to publish in December or January, EurActiv has learned. This will almost certainly take the form of an unconventional fuels directive, similar to other EU laws covering wastewater and environmental impact assessments. …

The legislation will set down rules for dealing with the risks of:

“Methane is also an issue and comes under emissions,” the source added. “There will have to be some kind of monitoring of emissions, whether methane or other forms of air pollution. Everything needs to be covered.” …

The Russians sell massive gas to Europe don't they. Opec is in charge of the world petrol industry and losing the power. Israel is the game changer.

And now you know where the opposition to fracking comes from.

As long as Bad Vlad can convince the ninnies in the competitor countries to hamstring their own production, he's free to keep pumping from his wells....and if the Russians have to frack, they will!!

Pretty funny. The maroons in the EU parliament fall right in line on this stupidity.

OPEC is investing billions in antifracking propaganda here in the USA as it is loosening the OPEC strangle hold on US.

Russia has been using natural gas for economic leverage. We could export massive amounts of natural gas if the Obamorons in government would issue the export licenses.

Obama and Free Traders in both parties are working on a Free Trade deal with the EU....and you can bet we will have the same restrictions on our petro/natural gas production if the US-EU Trade Pact passes....esp for shale products headed to Europe

What crazy stuff happens in Europe and EU....there are a lot of Globalists who are working to bring this stuff here

Canada just signed a free trade pact with the EU (CETA) — and there are no such restrictions on oil and gas production.

By far, the majority of opponents of free trade deals, here in Canada, are leftists and greenies.
