California universities pitch health care reform with deejays, pizza and peace of mind

Young, healthy people are the targets, crucial to the success of the nation’s new federal health care law. They rarely see a doctor and would pay premiums for years to come. Their money would help cover the care of older and sicker customers.

And one of the largest experiments to educate and ultimately enroll them is underway in California.

California State University, with more than 437,000 students across 23 campuses, is applying a $1.25 million federal grant to reach students, their families, part-time staff and even those who apply to universities but don’t enroll. Plying them with pizza and luring them with hip-hop, campus leaders and student ambassadors are dangling subsidies for signing up and warning that even a simple sports injury could spell financial ruin.....

Worth a full read to get the scope of this "push" as well as knowing that there is some push back.

But the take-away is that the administration is doing everything it can to suck these people into the system. Little do they know that the costs are going to explode.

How refreshing might it be if instead California universities actually focused on providing a quality education?

This is about to become the greatest propaganda failure in history. When studnts realize every penny of their pizza, beer, iPhone and date money is going to support welfare momma and her brood, they will refuse.

Yeah but what will be delicious irony is seeing them try to deal with the basic emotion of ‘’what's mine is mine’’ as you point out, when they see that all their ‘’partying’’ money, as in ‘’Hey, that's mine!!’’, is going to Shawnika and her 12 kids. The very class of bottom feeders their professors have told them are the true heros, the victims of the ‘’elitist , racist,white-male dominated power structure’’ proud sons and and daughters of the soil who in no way are responsible for the dysfunctional , criminally prone, sexually irresponsible lives they lead and must be cared for and provided with generations of welfare and entitlement spending to make up for 200-plus years of ''elitist, racist, white male dominated racism'' and any criticism of the ''noble poor'' is racism so what are they to do? I can see their brains scrambling now, "WARNING, WARNING, INFORMATION OVER LOAD, SYSTEM FAILURE!!!" Man, I love it. Nothing like cold hard reality to the liberal mush brained.

dangling subsidies for signing up

Those subsidies taper off in a few years once the students get jobs and start producing wealth for the new No-ability to confiscate. Big government must get their claws deeply into the young worker's bank accounts and paychecks now and train them properly in unilateral sharing.

Since most university students 26 and under whose parents are fortunate enough to keep their insurance will stay on their parents’ plan.

Of those who can’t, about 30% won’t be able to fill out the applications because they are too illiterate and can’t follow directions. They are the ones who will get in line first for another Obama freebie and will be subsidized by taxpayers.

The top 20% won’t apply because they know they are being double-billed for the bottom group and the elderly, and it’s a very bed deal for them.

The 50% in the middle don’t know what’s going on and don’t care to find out. What a system!

I just saw on F&F this morning that the national average cost for obamaloon insurance for a 27 year old is going to be approximately $250 p/mo.

I can't see that playing very well.

Why do they need to sign up for health care when they can stay on their parent’s health care until their 27 years old?

If their parents agree and are willing to foot the extra cost.

I think most parents operate as if they have fulfilled their financial obligations to their kids when the kids graduate college.

But I may be wrong.

If they are typical college students, they will listen to the DJs, if they are any good, and eat the pizza. Otherwise they might as well be pitching them condominium timeshares, with a chance to either win an overpriced used Prius, or a valuable mock emerald.

Seriously, any student stupid enough to sign on the dotted line for this will likely make a career out of selling Enzyte Male Enhancement products door to door.

However, given the marketing skills of these government shills, I suspect that this will be the quality of their DJs (an Internet classic):
