I can tell you a few more names NOT to support - Ryan, Cantor, McCarthy, Lankford, McMorris Rogers, King, for starters. I, personally, would favor any of a number of conservative firebrands but they are unlikely to garner sufficient support from the wider GOP caucus. I'm ok with leaving the choice to those who see these people in action on a daily basis as long as it's not someone from current leadership.
Unfortunately, you need a lot more qualifications than being a firebrand.
Ability to network, ability to work the media, knowing the legislative process etc. are all necessities for the role of Speaker.
As far as I know, there is no requirement for it to be a sitting member of the house even though that has always been the case. I think Allen West would be a great choice due to his directness.
