Dfwgator: McCain would have gotten us into WW III, so in a way, I’m glad he lost.
stormhill: Much as I hated McCain, what with Palin and the support of Rush, etc. I put a clothespin on my nose and started cheering the ticket but the stench didn't leave. In retrospect, a Republican victory under those circumstances would have been disastrous for conservatives as it would have reinforced the idea that you have to be a "moderate" to win.

The same is true of a Romney victory. There are some who refuse to see Romney as the danger that he was, in some cases he could have been worse than Obama. Politically, Romney is pretty much a clone of Obama; and yet there wouldn't be even the token "resistance" by the Republican party to anything he'd do (heck, they haven't been opposing Obama very much; so why should we take it as true that they would hold his feet to the fire?).

Moreover, the 'plan' that the Romney-supporters were touting for dealing with Obamacare was dangerous, idiotically so: the issuance of waivers to the states would consolidate power to the Presidency where he could extort the States with a simple do what I want or you'll lose your Obamacare exemption..

For all intents and purposes, RomneyCare is ObamaCare.
